Directions for Accessing and Completing SOIs
Please take the time to provide course feedback to your instructor during the designated period. Student Surveys of Instruction (SOI) are extremely important in helping faculty members plan and revise their courses. Your responses are confidential; instructors will receive a summary of class responses after final grades have been submitted and the semester has concluded. Instructors can access the percentage of students who have completed the SOI; however, they will have NO access to individual responses nor the names of those who did respond.
Directions
To access SOI forms, please take the following steps:
- Use the single sign-on link provided at the bottom of the automated emails. {Note: Emails will be sent from VSU Office of Academic Affairs, soi [at] valdosta.edu.} OR bookmark and access the link directly: https://valdosta.smartevals.com
- Select the correct survey. Select the Student Opinion of Instruction (SOI) for the designated course. Be sure to check the course and instructor carefully to assure that you are completing the SOI for the correct course.
- Read and answer the questions. The first three questions ask about the course while the last three questions ask about the individual instructor. Quantitative questions can be answered by selecting either Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, or Strongly Disagree. Qualitative questions consist of open text boxes to accept student feedback.
- Once you have completed all questions, click on “Submit.” You will not be able to access the survey again after you have selected this option.
