VALDOSTA — Britt Bugby from the Center for eLearning is the recipient of Valdosta State University’s 2024 Blazer Creed Award for Citizenship.
As the Blazer Creed states, VSU is a learning environment based on trust and mutual respect, in which open dialogue, vigorous debate, and the free exchange of ideas are welcome. The university is dedicated to the core values of community, including a commitment to practice the following:
Civility — A Blazer shows courtesy and compassion as well as respect for the dignity of every human being.
Integrity — Each Blazer is responsible for his or her own actions, and our community is stronger when we contemplate the context of our decisions and uphold the principles of trust and honesty.
Citizenship — Every Blazer has an interest in the wellbeing of the community and, therefore, a duty to stay informed, to make positive contributions, and to offer support to those who need help.
“Winning the Blazer Creed Award inspires me to keep searching for new and better ways to support and participate in the VSU community,” she said.
Bugby joined the VSU staff in February 2020. She currently serves as an instructional design project manager in the Center for eLearning and as a part-time instructor.
“I love everything about my job,” she said. “If I had to choose a best part, it would probably be when I’m able to collaborate creatively with faculty and staff to support student learning. I also love it when I can help students directly by answering questions or providing guidance with the tools and resources we provide. I consider myself lucky to be able to work with so many people in different departments across our campus community. It’s a daily reminder of our shared purpose at VSU.”
