Heavy rains expected for Valdosta
VALDOSTA - The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting
heavy rains in the Valdosta-Lowndes County area on Friday, March 7,
beginning at 7 a.m. and lasting throughout the day with a
cumulative total of 3 to 4 inches with intermittent light to
moderate showers the remainder of the evening. The time between 1
p.m. and 7 p.m. is when the threat of strong thunderstorms is the
greatest and individuals need to be prepared for high winds
associated with the storms.
Valdosta State University urges faculty, staff and students to pay
attention to the weather conditions and to use caution when
traveling. In extreme weather conditions, flooded roads, streets
and bridges may mask underlying infrastructure failures. Do not
drive through effected or questionable areas. VSU will continue to
monitor conditions and remain in constant communication with the
NWS. Refer to the VSU home page for updates.

preparation tips and up-to-the-minute weather
