Valdosta State University hopes to raise over 140 units of
"Blazer blood" in the third annual Rivalry Blood Drive against West
Georgia, Wednesday, November 2, from Noon to 5 p.m., on the second
floor of University Union, Camellia Room.
The pre-football game event seeks friendly competition between the
rival universities for a good cause, said John Wright, assistant
director of Student Life.
The American Red Cross has set a goal of 116 units for the
five-hour blood drive; however, Wright is hoping to beat the 140
units that West Georgia collected last week.
The winning school will be announced during Saturday's afternoon
football game at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium and will take home the
traveling trophy, currently in VSU's possession.
"This is a great way to build school spirit and participate in a
great cause at the same time," said Wright.
Though the Rivalry Blood Drive will last through 5 p.m., donations
of blood will be collected through 6 p.m. For more information,
contact Wright at 333-5674.
