VSU Professor Receives Native Citizen Award
Dr. Joyce M. Davis received the Native Citizen Award at the
Elbert County Chamber of Commerce banquet. The award is presented
to an individual raised in Elbert County who has attained
outstanding professional achievements.
Davis is a Professor of Art at Valdosta State University and a
published author. She has written three books on Elbert County and
numerous articles in noted academic journals. She was also awarded
the Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award in recognition of
her book "The Architectural Legacy of Elberton."
Davis earned her undergraduate degree from the University of
Georgia, a Master of Arts from the University of North Carolina,
and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Arts from the University of
Georgia.
