Delegates attend Georgia Reading Association Conference

Valdosta State University representatives recently participated in the 2005 Annual Conference of the Georgia Reading Association (GRA) in Atlanta.

The theme this year was, "Reading: Across the Ages, For All Ages." The GRA conference committee planned the program of professional development to explain current information and strategies about literacy for all readers.

VSU sent 10 early childhood and reading education (ECRE) faculty members and 12 students to the conference that was held on Feb. 27 and 28. These members of the university were key contributors in planning and facilitation of the entire conference. The conference had 40 sessions and six of those were facilitated by VSU faculty and students.

Drs. Jo Ann Bass, Sheryl Dasinger, Lynn Minor, Linda Miller, and Ms. Amy Boland served on the conference and GRA committees.

According to GRA's website, www.georgiareading.org, their mission is to promote the full literacy development of Georgia's student and adult population to ensure that each person becomes a full contributor to society.
