ASEAN Lecture set for VSU

Valdosta State University's second interdisciplinary international lunchtime program, focusing on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), will be presented at noon on Wednesday, March 9, in Pound Hall Auditorium located on Rea and Lillian Steele North Campus.

Dr. Lars F. Leader, Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instructional Technology, will be giving an overview of ASEAN, an important trade bloc for 10 countries whose populations total more than 500 million people. He will provide practical advice for expatriate managers and business people who are unfamiliar with this part of the world. Leader taught in Southeast Asia for seven years, including Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia.

The HUB Learning Cooperative, Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration's Management Department, and Center for International Programs (CIP) are endorsing the event. HUB is a VSU faculty initiative encouraging campus-wide interdisciplinary interaction and cooperation.

This lecture is the second installment of five programs scheduled for the spring semester. Future programs include Latin America on March 23, Africa on April 13, and the South Pacific on April 27.

The public is welcome to attend these various class presentations by campus speakers. The programs are in support of the VSU Collaborative Activity Plan, a strategic effort that encourages interdisciplinary scholarly exchanges. Visitor parking passes for presentation attendees are free and available at the VSU Parking and Transportation Office.
