LeaderQuest to host First Student Leadership Conference

Blazer Leadership 101, a student leadership conference presented by LeaderQuest, will convene on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the Biology/Chemistry Building located on Valdosta State University's main campus. It is open to all VSU students who are motivated to become more effective leaders.

Students will have the opportunity to attend three sessions of their choice in the morning and afternoon. The conference's keynote speaker, Jeffery Wallace, Georgia Power Company's vice president of planning and pricing, will speak to attendees before they visit the sessions. Additional presenters include: Myrna Ballard, Valdosta/Lowndes Chamber of Commerce president, Gregory Jackson, manager of customer care for Georgia Power of Atlanta, and VSU's faculty and staff.

Attendees will have a chance to win giveaways and prizes donated by local area businesses. Every student will receive a free conference t-shirt and another t-shirt donated by a local business. A catered lunch will be served in the Palms Dining Hall for participants.

The conference is funded by student fees. Even though the event is free, a $5 donation is requested on behalf of local charities, like The Haven and The Children's Advocacy Center.

?LeaderQuest's goal is to host this conference annually and eventually invite students from other colleges and universities in Georgia,? said Brenda Beasley, coordinator of orientation and leadership programs.

LeaderQuest is a VSU student organization, consisting of diverse students who uphold and show forth qualities of leadership. Their mission is to educate, equip, and motivate students toward leadership.
