Recent Activities:
Members of the Society of Physics Students and the Valdosta Society of Astronomy Students performed several demonstration shows for the 8th grade science classes at Hahira Middle School.
Joshua Rhudy, an undergraduate physics major, presented a poster entitled " Analysis of Magnetic Fields in Inertial Alfvèn Wave Collisions" at the April 2014 Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society. The poster is based on his undergraduate research project with Dr. Drake, in which he is calculating the energy density fluctuations during the interaction of two inertial Alfvèn waves in the Large Plasma Device at UCLA. These type of wave-wave interactions have been observed during the interaction of the solar wind with the Earth's magnetosphere.
