Small Business Development Center hosts Procurement Academy

The Valdosta State University Langdale College of Business Administration’s Small Business Development Center is pleased to announce the VSU 2013 Procurement Academy for all area businesses who are interested in learning more about procurement and working towards certification in order to conduct business with governmental agencies.

The Procurement Academy is a collaborative effort by Valdosta State University, the University of Georgia, and Georgia Tech to assist businesses within the Valdosta SBDC’s regional coverage area to strengthen their business overall, become more aware of governmental contracting opportunities, and become certified and gain the ability to bid on, compete, and contract with governmental agencies.

The series will be conducted over a six-month period. It begins Wednesday, March 13 and continues each month through August 14. Wednesday’s class will begin at 9 a.m. in VSU’s Cypress Room, located within the University Center on Patterson Street, with a lesson in creating a one-page business plan, which will help business owners to strengthen and build on the core values necessary for the business’s success.  Following a one-hour break for lunch at noon, the afternoon session will focus on an introduction into certifications.  The session will end promptly at 3 p.m.

The classes are free of charge and open to the public, but you must register to participate.  Visit www.valdosta.edu/sbdc/classes, or call the Valdosta State University SBDC 229-245-3738 for more details and to register.   If you need special accommodations, please notify us as soon as possible prior to day of the event.
