About Dr. Anne Huot

Huot has dedicated her career to the transformative power of education and the opportunities higher education presents for contributing to and improving society. Throughout her 30-year experience as a faculty member, senior administrator, provost, and college president, Huot has focused her attention on academic excellence as her highest priority. Her work focused on developing systems and programming that encourage and support student learning and success and prepare students for active citizenship and meaningful careers. To her role as president of Keene State College, Dr. Huot brought a vision informed by her experience as a first-generation college student, a native of New Hampshire, and an educator with extensive background in public higher education. During her tenure as president of Keene State College, she led the development of an integrated academic and cocurricular plan, an integrated plan for compliance, risk management and institutional effectiveness and a ten year facilities master plan including building a $33 million dollar residence hall, LEED platinum certification for the new academic building and a plan to convert the fuel used to heat and cool the plant with clean energy.  Town-gown relationships improved significantly through a deliberative cultural shift in student conduct, annual giving to the College doubled and the largest single gift in the College's history was received in 2016. In 2017, the College received the prestigious Higher Education Civic Engagement Award from the Washington Center given for leadership and innovation in civic engagement.

She believes passionately in the need for accessibility to higher education for all students and the unique role, mission and opportunities provided by institutions of higher education. Her history as a faculty member and academic leader demonstrates her commitment to these values. In 2016, she received the Distinguished Graduate Alumni Award for the University of Vermont's College of Medicine.

She is highly regarded for her commitment to excellence in teaching. She has written and presented extensively on her research concerning the influence of nitric oxide on cellular response modification.
