Grant Hall, IT

Grant was very kind and calm while he guided me through my technical issues. We tried everything. He stayed on the phone for about an hour trying to find out what was wrong. The issue didn't get totally resolved, but that's okay; having a person like Grant on the other side was reassuring to me. He really knew what he was doing. Overall, outstanding service from him. He is a wonderful addition to IT!

Dr. Karen Acosta, Modern & Classical Languages

I wrote to Karen to say that I was having some difficulty with the setup of the Day 1 textbook access in Blazeview. I asked if she had time to help me with it. She immediately wrote back and arranged a Zoom meeting where she could walk me through the setup process. This took time out of her regular morning schedule. She made sure that I understood all the ins and outs of the MindTap platform so that my students would have a more pleasant experience with it. She gave me some pointers on things to include, things to hide, and made sure that the textbook was linked properly with the online grade book. In short, she helped me tremendously.

Dr. Victoria Russell, Modern & Classical Languages

Dr. Russell acted in the most cordial way and took time from her busy schedule to help me with securing a place as a presenter at this year’s SCOLT conference. She told me about an opportunity to become a presenter, explained how the presentation and application processes worked, helped me with my application for faculty travel funding, assisted with my registration, and sent helpful e-mails to make sure that I didn’t miss a single step of this process that was completely new to me. Her eagerness to spend time helping colleagues to secure opportunities for professional growth makes her a credit to her profession and an asset to our department.

I was assigned to teach an online undergraduate class in Spring 2022 just before we left for the holidays in December 2021. Daniel has been extremely helpful in showing me how to use Kaltura Kapture to shoot videos and upload the videos to my Blazeview course. Thanks so much, Daniel!

Brandall Kearse, IT

Brandall answered all of my questions and looked up information that I needed. He sent me links to view the class schedule. He also explained how to view the information I needed and where to access additional information. Without this, I would not have known what I was looking at or where to find what I needed. Brandall's cheery disposition, professionalism, and competence are impeccable.

I left my phone somewhere, and Dr. Heuss found it. She grabbed the phone so no one would take it, and also left her contact information as well as times to get ahold of her. I am so grateful that such a kind and considerate person found it. Being without a phone is a massive inconvenience and scary if anyone managed to unlock it to get access to private information. Dr. Heuss really went above and beyond what anyone may have done if they found someone's personal belongings. Thank you!

She reassured me that I am on the right path and made me feel confident about the profession I am majoring in. I honestly feel like I gained a friend although she is my advisor!

Kaleigh Zoucha, Athletics

One of my student assistants was standing outside greeting guests during Open House. It was colder than she expected, and she did not bring a jacket. Thank you!

Adrian Taylor and Sarah Bring, IT

Together, these two make a super-power team! They are consistently supporting my computer labs and my students whenever there is a need. Without fail, I can rely on both Adrian and Sarah to help when there is a technology emergency. Just recently, they both helped resolve an issue with an external hard drive that unexpectedly stopped working. Instead of relying on off-campus tech support to help resolve the issue, Sarah decided to find alternative ways to retrieve the missing data. Adrian stepped up and supplied a backup drive once Sarah was able to access the important files. I am eternally grateful for their kindness and determination to help when nothing else worked. They are always there to lend a helping hand.

He clearly explained in a step-by-step manner what he needed me to do to assist him. Then he resolved all my technological issues in a pleasant, friendly, and informative manner.

Keith Watson, Library

Classes had just begun, and there was a complex challenge dealing with computer use in a West Hall classroom. I saw Keith Watson, asked a question, and his response was typical of Odum Library. He responded with "Let's go over to your classroom and find a solution." When we were done, Watson had solved our problem and made VSU look very good in front of a visiting professor from Poland. I'd like to commend Watson. If Arthur Conan Doyle had met our Watson, Sherlock Holmes would have been the sidekick.

Jessica Pippin, STEAM Center

Ms. Pippin has consistently and effectively organized Project Learning Tree (PLT) workshops for the Dept of Teacher Education science methods classes. We are grateful for her services. However, for this Spring 2022 semester, carrying out the PLT workshop was difficult because of a lack of facilitators.  Faced with this challenge, Ms. Pippin worked hard to recruit facilitators and ensured that all science students in our undergraduate programs participated in the PLT workshops.  Ms. Pippin has gone beyond her call of duty to ensure that all students are PLT certified. Thank you, Dr. Chambers, for your dedication and presence in your lectures. Also, thank you for meeting the students where they are. It really matters.

She made a new and intimidating process so easy for me to understand, and I sincerely appreciate it.

Alyssa Redding, VSU Bookstore

Alyssa has been phenomenal to work with regarding books for our dual enrollment students. We have some students who are self-pay but have a funding source through our school. This is out of the norm for DE students. From having all the books ready for the students to pick up, to wading through individual situations to determine appropriate invoicing, Alyssa has been an amazing partner in the process. On top of all that, she always answered any of my questions quickly and thoroughly. I am new in my school counselor position, and Alyssa has made working with VSU for DE such a great experience!

She is always helpful and prompt in her responses and does her due diligence in getting the job done. Thank you again, Susan, for helping me with the work tickets - it is truly appreciated.

Our DVD player for the V-State Experience quit working and we had to use new software to make sure our reception was successful. Doug even sent me detailed instructions to use as a reference when I was setting everything up. He and his colleagues have always been extremely supportive of our recruitment efforts. We would not be able to accomplish our goals without people like Doug.

Gary contacted me immediately and investigated the situation. Thanks to Gary, the project was completed by the IT team in one week. Many thanks to all three employees!

I am a senior Spanish Major and my husband is a senior French major. Ms. Piper has been helping both of us finalize our classes to be able to graduate on time. We both are transfer students to VSU; therefore, our situation requires extra effort to make sure that all of the requirements are met. Ms. Piper has taken on the position of our personal advocate. Over the past few weeks, she has quickly answered all of our questions and has come up with ideas of classes that would better streamline our academic track. We are so grateful that she would put so much effort into our individual academic plan to help us graduate. She has been a tremendous help. Jeremy Hankinson, Library

During spring break, I came into the library building with my arms full, carrying a tote bag full of books and work materials. My office is on the fourth floor of the library, and the elevators were shut down because of the alarm and systems testing. Jeremy was in the lobby and immediately offered to carry all my books up the four flights of stairs for me! This is just the most recent indicator of his collegial and collaborative approach to his work. Jeremy is always available to help with issues and challenges that are outside of the scope of his job. Kevin Cox, University Police

After seeing me and a few of my peers struggling to get my car started, Officer Cox pulled over and helped us try to jump the car. It would not start so he left to retrieve tools and then helped me remove the battery. When I got a new battery a few hours later he returned to put the battery into the car and waited until it started before leaving. He was so nice and helpful in a scary and stressful situation. I am very grateful to Officer Cox for helping me get my car working again and keeping me from being stranded at the university.

Dr. Luke Jones, Dept of Economics & Finance

I was having a rough week with my two jobs and my dog almost died. On the due date of an important assignment, my boss informed me at the last minute that I was expected to work and complete a project. I was not allowed to leave until it was complete. I did not exit my job until late at night. I emailed my professor around 11 explaining the situation. He responded and extended my deadline another day. I am a GA and have to maintain a certain GPA to keep my assistantship. His willingness to work with me not only saved me from a stress-induced breakdown but also possibly saved my assistantship. Thanks to his kindness I was able to go home, focus on my sick dog, and get caught up on sleep before work.

Cassie Baggett, Accounting & Procurement

Ms. Baggett provided assistance in approving a report. She took the time to review the entirety of the situation and provided me with a solution so I could resolve the issue. Danielle Sellers & Catering Team

Last night we had session 3 of our grant program Let's Talk About It: Women's Suffrage. I ordered desserts and decaf coffee. Danielle helped me with the menus for each event. The event runs from 7:00-9:00 pm. Last night the food was delivered to a table right outside Archives and everything was laid out nicely. While I was inside getting things ready for the program, a group came by and took half the food.  I wrote Danielle about 10 minutes before 7 and asked that in the future to leave the food wrapped up or put it in archives. At 7:15 or so, she and someone from catering came in with a platter of brownies to replace our lost food. It was an amazing thing to do. Everyone at the program was thrilled. It was the most impressive service I've ever had. I know Aramark is not VSU, but they have real service excellence that does our school proud. They are part of our Blazer family.

It has been an amazing semester working alongside some amazing people. The solution center is really a place I can escape to in order to work and also know that I will enjoy doing it alongside some amazing people! I just wanted to give a shout-out to an awesome team!

Dr. James Martinez, Education

His help was very appreciated!

Dallas Suttles, Archives

I'm researching an article with ties to turpentine camps and culture and was directed to VSU's Traditions of Turpentining Collection, most of which was not available online. Over the course of a week, Dallas found and digitized 12 audio files, and several transcripts, making them available to me (in a timely manner) and future researchers.

Bailey is the guy who is doing 7 jobs at once, but somehow he always has time to help fix the issue and be as helpful and kind as possible. I was having some domain issues on my computer. Bailey came to my office, waited on me to finish a meeting, then stayed for a couple of hours to fix not just that issue but also a couple of others that came up. They are our "frontline" for getting started with classes and the "bottom line" when it is time to graduate. I found Dr. Tillman and her exceptional support at a time when I was feeling discouraged and needed someone to guide me and reassure me. I was ready to give up on a very important goal. She was beyond amazing and I cannot express what a huge impact she had on me and my future educational endeavors. Dr. Paine was able to clearly explain the different types of master's programs and help us find a program to meet his certification requirements. We are excited for him to begin the program this fall and could not be more impressed by Dr. Paine and her willingness to help us find a solution. I am proud to say we caught Dr. Paine caring and it will pay huge dividends for our teacher and his career! From Brooks County High School, I would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Paine and Valdosta State for helping our teacher find a way to fulfill his certification requirements.

Britt transferred the content from one section to the other for me on the 23rd, but provided a bit of training. On 8/30, I was 99% successful in making the transfer of the next batch of content, but copied a quiz grade that I shouldn't have. It would have been so much easier for Britt to do this herself, but she took the time to send me the directions so I could fix it and learn more about Blazeview in the process. She works and goes to school and lives on her own.  After speaking to Chad about her concerns, he took the time to find a specific grant she could qualify for and that grant covered all of her expenses. She was so excited as she told me the whole story.  She said, “this is what I will remember from my time at VSU and Chad has impacted me more than he will ever understand.” This is the VSU culture we all work to sustain. Keep it up Chad - you are making a difference in the lives of our students.

Dr. Ophelie Desmet,  Human Services

Dr. O reached out to me when she found out that I was having a baby that weekend. She offered to give me an extension on two of my assignments. I was beyond thankful! I had already packed my computer to take to the hospital with me. This extension allowed me to take a short break from schoolwork during our hospital stay and the first few days with our newest family member.   Thank you, Dr. O!

Joel Dion, New Media Center

I entered the Day of Inclusion Art exhibition, but I needed 3 posters foam mounted and laminated in a 3-day time period. Joel was so understanding and willing to help me out. He even presented alternative presentation options.

Marsha Dukes, eLearning

Thanks, Ms. Dukes, for being super supportive to faculty. I have been interacting with her since my first semester here. She made using BlazeVIEW so easy for me. The best part is that she answers emails promptly and really tries to resolve the issue. People like Marsha make us a better department and a great university!

Margaret Duncan, Access Office

Margaret is always supportive to faculty and willing to provide guidance whenever necessary. Margaret is quick to respond and answer any questions. I am grateful for the support Margaret has provided to me as I work to meet the needs of students.

Veronica Graham, Registrar's Office

Mrs. Graham was super patient, and helped me sort out getting back to VSU! Thank you for your patience and help!

Shipra Gupta, Chemistry

Dr. Gupta always tries her best to help each and every student that she can. Today while she was checking lab manuals she noticed that my behavior/ attitude wasn't like it normally is and she stopped to see how I was doing and how she could help. She gave me some amazing advice that I will be taking! I feel less stressed and more motivated and empowered. I am so lucky to have a professor that cares about their students. She is amazing! Thank you, Dr. Gupta, I really needed your help today and it meant so much!

Jeremy Hankinson, Library

MLIS faculty appreciate Jeremy for going above and beyond to assist with moving office desks and office furniture. We appreciate all that you do.

Chris Hiers, ASL/Interpreting and Deaf Education

Chris Hiers is a workhorse and does everything with a smile. He goes above and beyond his call of duty to support colleagues as well as students. There have been multiple times Chris has supported me when I have questions about how best to serve students. Chris truly puts student needs first and is always willing to lend a supportive hand to colleagues.

Kaitlyn Hunt, CELT

Kaitlyn has done a terrific job helping out whenever we needed assistance to facilitate faculty workshops for the QEP. She is very attentive, detail-oriented, and quick to help with tasks such as gathering supplies, scheduling spaces, and providing feedback. Kaitlyn has been imperative to the success of the QEP and many other faculty training initiatives on campus through her work in CELT. Thank you!

Kaitlyn Hunt, CELT

Kaitlyn regularly goes above and beyond to help faculty, staff, and students at VSU, as well as serve guests of CELT. However, as we started this semester with a larger influx of on-campus students and personnel, Kaitlyn has taken her service acumen to another level. She has volunteered to serve at the eLearning table during Orientation and collaborates with PR and social media for social media - manning tables, developing ideas, and so on. She jumps on the increased phone calls eLearning receives at the start of the semester - answering questions and getting people to where they need to be. She even works with students and personnel through one-on-one consultations to help introduce them to the online resources and support available at VSU - including BlazeVIEW, ASC, and others. Kaitlyn is truly one of the bright sparks on our Blazer campus.

Gabriel Interiano Handal, IT

Gabriel Interiano and Grayson Wall from IT at North Campus went above and beyond to assist me in the setup of the standing desk for my office computer. Additionally, I was helped when I was having technical difficulties with my computer during the first week of classes. IT replaced the hard drive, reimaged my computer, and uploaded the software. I cannot speak highly enough of their expertise and professionalism.

Susan Jones, Plant Services

Susan went above and beyond to help me submit my request to have the paint touched up and some spackling done over in our building. She was patient and kind when describing the process to me and helped me to submit the proper paperwork.

Stanley Jones, Registrar's Office

Stanley Jones is an amazing colleague! He responds to my many questions almost instantly, and he always has the answer. Late Friday, at the end of the first week of school, I had a unique registration issue. He emailed Friday evening to let me know that he resolved my issue! The student was also happy to have access to the course.

Doug Jordan, IT

Remote access to Banner was unavailable, so I drove to campus to enter my grades and unfortunately, my key card access wasn't working. Doug happened to drive into the parking lot and so I explained my situation. He gave me access to the building so I could go to my office. When I got into my office, my computer and printer were not working. The lights were on, but I didn't have power going to the equipment. So then, I tried using our admin assistant’s computer and a message said I was locked out of the system. So I went back outside hoping that Mr. Jordan was still around and luckily he was. He came inside, fixed my login access and I was able to key in my grades before the deadline. Thank you, Doug! We are so glad to have you on the LCOBA IT Team!

Meredith Lancaster, Office of Occupational Safety

We had a chemical spill occur in one of our flammables cabinets. Meredith spent the afternoon cleaning it up and cleaning out the cabinet. She was incredibly helpful in answering my many questions and providing some advice on how to keep things in good condition going forward. I am so very grateful for her time, expertise, and help! Thank you, Meredith!

Sean Lennon, Teacher Education

Last week I noticed in an oversight that I needed Dr. Lennon's signature on two documents from the Spring Semester. He happily signed the documents and scanned them back to me within 24 hours. Thank you!

Benjamin Li, IT

Ben helped and completed a tough task. We were pulling together a document for a publisher and we needed some help. Great job, Ben!

Dr. Kayleen Marble, Education

Dr. Marble went above and beyond while teaching EDET 8050 this summer. She offered thorough feedback which made me feel that she was thoroughly taking the time to read our submissions and cared about us being successful in this program. Dr. Marble was very prompt with grading, and she made herself available to us through email. She truly made me feel like she wanted all of her students to be successful. She is one of the best professors I've had thus far in this program!

David Monetti, Psychological Sciences Department

I so appreciate Dr. Monetti being a warm, helpful, and consistent presence at VSU. I have known Dr. Monetti for many years, I first knew him as a colleague and have so much respect for him. His friendliness and generosity of spirit are a true blessing to me and many others. Today he was so kind when I locked myself out of my office. He stopped what he was doing and went out of his way to unlock my door. Thank you.

Sarah Moore, LTWD

I encountered a student who was a bit overwhelmed with her fall classes and worried she may not pass her ACED 2050 course. To assist the student Mrs. Moore met with me and the student via phone and explained her online course setup in great detail. She also provided the student with some avenues to bring up her class grade. Mrs. Moore made the connection between her and the student seamless. This act was kind and made the student's day. The student left the advising center with a little pep in her step. Thank you, Mrs. Moore!

Mallory Odell, Athletics

For the COEHS freshman orientation, the COEHS team created the "VSU Playbook for Success" as the program theme. In our attempt to be authentic we used a variety of sports terminology and props. When I put a call out to Athletics to borrow any type of uniform for the occasion, Ms. Odell was quick to respond with everything we needed. Her willingness to support our effort for our students went above and beyond the call of duty. She truly cared about our success.  Thank you, Mallory, and Women's Basketball for caring! You helped make the event highly successful.

Forrest Parker, Education

Dr. Parker was so very kind and helpful! I am an older student who has been out of school for over 10 years. After having Dr. Parker as a professor, I discovered that he goes above and beyond for his students. That includes answering questions and concerns that were not his to answer. He is also a wonderful professor!

Samantha Paul, Library

I was having difficulties printing paper off the printer and Samantha kindly came over to help and assist with the issue upon seeing it. Samantha also showed me the New Media Center for binding as I tend to print out large documents. She also showed me ASC. Thank you for an amazing information service experience!

Alicia Roberson, Advising

Alicia is always passionate about VSU and the students she helps each and every day. Today was no exception to that. I received a call from Alicia regarding a student that lost a parent a couple of years ago and was having difficulty completing an appeal for financial aid funds. Due to Alicia's desire to serve as an advocate for the student and help close the gap on what needed to be done to complete the appeal, the student was able to complete her appeal and ultimately get funding to complete her degree with VSU in Spring 2023. Alicia defined today what an advocate truly is and why it is critical for VSU that we have employees like this. We are lucky to have Alicia at VSU!

Markaysa Robinson, IT

Markaysa contacted the vendor to inquire about the delay in the shipment.  She resolved the issue with an alternative plan and saved everyone time. She definitely treated our time as valuable and had a pleasant attitude.  Thank you and keep up the great work.

Tanja Rouse, Financial Aid

Tanja went above and beyond in helping me hire a new Federal Work Study office assistant.  She provided exceptional guidance at every step. She is an asset to the Financial Aid department and the university.  Thank you, Tanja, for all that you do for our students.

Ken Smith, Library

I just wanted to let you know how wonderful Ken Smith has been from the library. As you know, we are losing access to many Wiley journals. Given that my students in ESOL 4060 and FLED 7500 perform extensive research in second language acquisition theory and practice, which they present at the undergraduate and graduate research symposia each year, Ken worked tirelessly today to ensure that my students will still have access to the best quality journals in our field, in some cases at a cost to the library. Given his outstanding service to my current and future students, I wanted to commend Ken for his outstanding work!

Grant Solomon, IT

Mr. Solomon spent nearly 30 minutes helping me set up the authenticator. There were issues with my computer, which he helped me navigate beautifully. Not only is he exceptionally patient, but he is most talented at ensuring that I am walking through each step from opening a tab to working on my phone. The step-by-step instructions were very simple and he stayed on the phone to verify that the app was activated and worked at sign-in. Mr. Solomon is the third support professional I have worked with through this venue; his service delivery was phenomenal. Despite my very busy schedule, I specifically asked how I could contact his boss to provide Mr. Solomon with stellar reviews. I hope to speak with him regarding any future concerns. Thank you!

Cathy Sowa, IT

I was working on something that required assistance from IT, so I called Cathy. My request yielded several unexpected issues. After several phone conversations, email communications, and computer mishaps, I gave up. Cathy didn't. She called the following day to make sure everything worked out, and when she found out it hadn't, she offered to come to my office. She said she wanted to make sure I had everything I needed to complete the task I was working on. Cathy walked over to my office and did not leave until she made sure I had what I needed, all the while remaining extremely pleasant.

Rosetta Stewart, Campus Services

Rosetta Stewart did an excellent job of cleaning up a large amount of water that had leaked onto the floor of one of the labs in the Bailey Science Center.  Although the work was difficult and had to be done late on a Friday afternoon, she persevered and completed the cleanup. Thank you!

Wanda Stracener, Financial Aid

We had a student call this morning for the Dean's Office and began to tell me why she called. I, even after 15 years on campus, had hardly ever heard of the SAP Appeal. Ms. Wanda helped me out so much by explaining what it is and does. Thank you, Ms. Wanda, for giving VSU faculty, staff, and students you're dedication and fabulous assistance!

Dr. Regina Suriel, Middle, Second, Reading, & Deaf Education

Dr. Suriel gave us valuable feedback on our assignments! She went above and beyond to answer our questions and the feedback that she gave us was not only valuable but extremely fast. This gave us time to make the appropriate adjustments to our next assignment.

Rebecca Taylor, Office of Testing

I needed to take a digital marketing certificate exam and none of the computers here in the office or at home could fit Pearson VUE. I called Rebecca and she was able to accommodate the last-minute request and let me take the exam the same day that I called. The exam was 3.5  hours long and she waited in the testing center after hours along with her staff members. I cannot appreciate her enough for assisting me with the entire process. Thank you again.

Jordan Thompson, Bursary

Jordan went above and beyond to help resolve a financial matter I was experiencing. Her level of concern and willingness to resolve the matter was outstanding. Her knowledge and kindness made my week so much smoother!

Amanda Thompson, Housing and Residence Life

Amanda has been extremely helpful in assisting my office in reporting the weekly enrollment reports to USG.  She has always been willing to go beyond the call of duty to dive deeper into the housing application data to answer the questions and the follow-up question from USG.  My office definitely appreciates the hard work she dedicates each week to providing the information.  She's becoming a housing rock star on campus!

Grayson Wall, IT

Gabriel Interiano and Grayson Wall from IT at North Campus went above and beyond to assist me in the setup of the standing desk for my office computer. Additionally, I was helped when I was having technical difficulties with my computer during the first week of classes. IT replaced the hard drive, reimaged my computer, and uploaded the software. I cannot speak highly enough of their expertise and professionalism.

Andrew Wells, IT

For 3 weeks, Andrew assisted me with a most unusual computer problem. I was unable to log into Microsoft Teams from my new MAC. He worked with both me and a liaison with Microsoft Teams Customer Service on a daily basis to resolve this issue. Andrew remained persistent and positive in solving this problem. He devoted a significant amount of time to resolving this issue and I am very grateful for all he did! Thank you so much!

Craig Williams, Plant Key Shop

Craig and his team have been lifesavers for us this semester. They have been patient and attentive when we've reached out with any issues. Craig responds to correspondence quickly and goes above and beyond to be helpful.

Bryson Williams, VPFA & Budgeting Services

Bryson is such a rock star! Even though he's fairly new as a budget manager, he has helped me through budget amendments and PAR forms-both things I don't fill out very often. He is always kind, patient, and prompt in his response. I am so glad Bryson is on Team VSU!

Monica Wolfe, Admissions

I met Monica earlier this year at a college fair at my daughter’s high school and she was beyond sweet, kind, and very informative. My daughter has expressed interest in attending Valdosta State, so I reached out to Monica this past week with what feels like a million questions in regard to admissions. Monica displays exemplary customer service. She was patient with all of my questions and prompt in providing me with all the information that I was seeking.

Veraleen Wright, Campus Services

Vera is a treasure on this campus! Not only is she a hard worker, but she has close attention to detail. She never fails to stop in and treat our buildings like her own. Not to mention, she typically does this by herself. I speak for several people on campus when I say that she is dedicated to the job. You have no idea how appreciated you are Ms. Vera! Thanks for all that you do!

Jason Mosley, Amelia Reams, & Aimee Batista
Advancement Data Services

In preparation for a large Esports event the University will be hosting, we were having a difficult time finding a proper solution to accept payments for tournament registrations.  Aimee, Amelia, and Jason worked with me in a Teams call for over an hour as we tested to accept payments into Foundation through the tournament management software.  With their help, registration for the event will be a seamless and streamlined process for participants and event staff.

Sandra Jones, The Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion

Sandra Jones, the Director of the Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion, went above and beyond in September. She was instrumental in the success of two important Hispanic Heritage Month events: The HHM2022 Kickoff Party as part of VSU’s Celebration of Inclusion and the Meet and Greet event for musician Néstor Torres. Ms. Jones welcomed all of our groups to the Celebration of Inclusion and facilitated our participation in the event in multiple ways. She co-hosted the Meet and Greet for Mr. Torres with us and made the Shannon Center available for the event. During the Meet and Greet, Ms. Jones was flexible and gracious as she readily agreed on the spot to interview. We appreciated her generosity with time and resources for both occasions.

Joshua Robertson, Student Testing

Over the past few years to say that Josh has been helpful and accommodating would be an understatement. Josh not only solves problems expertly, but he does it within record time. When I think I'm over-asking by requesting a list of all students who have registered or adding a couple of extra days to the testing window, Josh grants my request immediately. I sincerely appreciate all that he does.

Jeff Shipley, LCOBA

I was attempting to connect my laptop to the classroom desktop using Via and was having difficulty. Mr. Shipley stopped what he was doing and assisted me. Jeff is always very helpful and willing to give immediate assistance whenever there is a technical problem and does so with a great attitude!  Thank you, Jeff Shipley!

Ebony Resurreccion, Communication Arts

Thank you so much to Ebony who helped me and my students with setting up a last-minute hyflex modality to teach my class one day while I was still in quarantine. Specifically, a student was scheduled to complete her Student Discussion Leader assignment in my face-to-face class but as I was sick, I couldn't attend in person. Canceling or rescheduling would've delayed our course, so I decided to try Teams video conferencing into the class instead to observe and interact with my students live as they engaged in discussion about the reading due. I'm extremely grateful to Ebony for her assistance with set-up since it worked so well and she already has so much to manage in the main office! The students also deserve credit for their accountability and adaptation to teaching and learning with technology.

Donnell Davis, Financial Aid

I'd like to thank Donnell Davis for helping me recognize all the students who received a VSU Foundation Inc. scholarship this fall. Gathering the necessary data, creating the spreadsheet, and preparing all of those stories for publication in hometown news organizations across the country can be quite challenging. It helps to know that everyone is willing to work together to ensure our students get the recognition they deserve.

Dr. Natalie Kuhlmann, College of Education and Human Services

Natalie Kuhlmann went above and beyond to answer questions and offer solutions to areas of concern in our department. Her expertise, patience, and innovative ideas were very valued! Thank you for helping us bring cohesion to our students' practicum experience.

Chelsie Powell, Center for eLearning

Chelsie was a joy to work with in developing a course for the OCCA program. She's very responsive and patient! She also has amazing attention to detail.

Cathy Sowa, IT

Cathy Sowa did an excellent job as a guest speaker for the Cub Scouts - Pack 454 during the National Night Out Event. The scouts met in front of Nevins Hall during the event. Cathy spoke to the Scouts about Information Technology, Information Security, and why she chose this job field. She got the scouts excited and they were asking lots of questions.

Caleb Reid & Wilburn Leschber, University Police Department

Lieutenant Caleb Reid and Major Wil Leschber did an excellent job as guest speakers for the Cub Scouts - Pack 454 during the National Night Out Event. The scouts met in front of Nevins Hall during the event. Both Caleb and Wil spoke to the Scouts about Information Technology, Information Security, and why they chose this job field. Both got the scouts excited and they were asking lots of questions.

Marsha Dukes, eLearning

Marsha Dukes is a consummate professional. She stepped in to quickly handle a problem that we were facing in a very practical and solution-oriented manner.

Madison Whitehead, COHUSS Advising Center

I called Madison with a concern about one of her advisees who was a student in my class, but who was not a major in our department.  Madison talked to me about some of the best steps we could pursue to immediately help this student and then followed up with me about the progress made. It is this kind of quick response that can really make a difference to a student having an issue, and Madison did such an excellent job. Thank you!

Alisia Rios, Online College for Career Advancement

Alisia Rios is an enrollment coach for the Online College for Career Advancement and a VSU graduate student. Recently, she went to extraordinary lengths to assist one of my online students who could not complete his classes due to the emergency hospitalization of his son. Not surprisingly, the student was consumed with the emergency and unable to deal with the required paperwork. Then along came Ms. Rios! After countless communications involving the student, me, and other professors, as well as the Registrar's office, she saw to it that the student was granted incompletes and withdrawals.  I am grateful for her dedication to our students and her perseverance in meeting this challenge. Way to go, Alisia!

Wade Bugby, IT

When researching a technical issue on my computer, Wade found an issue that took several days to fix. He was extremely patient, communicative, and helpful throughout the entire process. This error may never have been found if he had not delved deeper into the issue. Now my computer is running faster and better than ever.  I can't thank him enough and I'm very grateful that he's on our team.

Catherine Wills, Human Resources

Catherine has been my guide and encouragement throughout my tenure at VSU. From the first day to the last, I relied on Catherine's guidance and compassionate encouragement throughout the bad as well as the good times I experienced here as a faculty member. She has been a blessing.

Denoltra Williams, LCOBA

Ms. Denoltra Williams is always very helpful. This semester I am teaching classes with a lot of students, and students are applying to take make-up exams for different reasons. Ms. Denoltra Williams is always very helpful in arranging times and seats at the testing center for my students based on my requests during this semester. Both the students and I want to thank her for her help!

Juwan Douglas, Library

Juwan is a great asset to the circulation department! Juwan was helpful in directing a student to a room, and his customer service was so friendly. His assistance to the patron was outstanding. Keep up the good work, Juwan!

Jody Hudnall, IT

A student was directed to eLearning for a problem she was having with SPSS and her Citrix login. I called Jody to ask what we needed to do to help the student, and he immediately jumped on the task personally to make sure she was able to complete her work. Thank you, Jody!

Douglas Carlson, Archives

Mr. Carlson looked up the obituary I requested and further included the obituary of the subject’s father. He has a very keen eye. A thank you is not enough!

Jacquelyn Hopkins, Human Services

Ms. Jackie provided the Marriage and Family Therapist students with the incredible opportunity to visit with visitors at My Friend's House. We got to interact with the visitors who attend regularly and we had enlightening conversations that lead to a greater understanding of their experience and their relationships with their families. We were given great information about the services provided through My Friend's House and insight into what it is like to work with people who live with dementia. Ms. Jackie was warm and welcoming to us and encouraged us to lean into the experience. She put a great deal of work into organizing our visit, making it both educational and engaging. We kindly appreciate her work. Thank you from Dr. Rampley's Treatment Issues Class.

Tiffanie Warren-Williams, Teacher Education

I am a graduate student enrolled in the Teacher Leadership program and working on my K-5 Mathematics Endorsement. While enrolled this semester, my dad suffered a massive heart attack and was pronounced DOA upon arrival at the hospital. I flew home to North Dakota from Georgia. Once I realized that I would be there for an indefinite time period, I reached out to Dr. Warren-Williams to let her know that I would continue to work on my assignments. Dr. Warren-Williams extended grace and assured me that time with my family was more important than the coursework. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Warren-Williams in all three courses of this endorsement program. She truly has a heart of gold and understands the needs of her students.

Dr. Ericka Parra, Modern & Classical Languages

In addition to her usual readiness to help with her expertise in teaching, Dr. Parra helped me create for a whole new class that I was assigned to teach for the first time. She taught this class before and did not hesitate to share all her materials with me, plus she gave me advice on how to improve some aspects of that class. This is such a thoughtful act and a terrific example of her great collegiality. I appreciate very much the enormous help that it means to me.

Yvonne Landers, VPFA & Budgeting Services

Yvonne is an absolute credit to the Blazer spirit. While we were attending the USG Annual Staff Council Conference hosted by Georgia Gwinnett College, I noticed the front passenger side tire had developed a split from where it had made contact with tire debris left over from an accident on the way to the conference. She changed out of her professional attire after the conference was over and was not afraid of the dirt and dust in helping me problem-solve the situation. She followed me all the way back to Valdosta, a trip that took four hours, to ensure I did not have any more problems. I cannot thank Yvonne enough!

Vaconna Hardin, Athletics

I contacted Ms. Vaconna Hardin to explain an issue I was having with a reservation that I had recently created. Ms. Vaconna, without hesitation, offered to correct the reservation issue and she did so with kindness and a smile. Thank you, Ms. Vaconna. I appreciate you taking the time to help me this morning.

Christopher Allen, IT

Christopher provided great guidance and was willing to do additional research for answers that he wasn't certain about.

Justin Arrington, Legal Affairs

Mr. Arrington helped to provide excellent legal advice on some difficult federal documents. The students and faculty really appreciate his efforts.

Dr. Shaun Ault, Math

Dr. Shaun Van Ault has gone above and beyond to assist me in my first semester teaching a course for VSU. No matter what I ask, he answers almost immediately with extremely helpful information. Today I asked for some contacts for a course I'm teaching next semester. In just over an hour he had connected me with three different individuals to each assist with specific components of the course. He is efficient, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Glenn Blount, Plant- Maintenance

I would like to share my appreciation to Glenn Blount for completing multiple projects for the College of Business. Glenn ensured that the lighting for the Copeland Museum, Roland FQ Equality Lounge, and the J. Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship was ready for student interaction. I appreciate Glenn's attention to detail and timeliness in getting all of these projects completed.

Cory Brown, IT

Working with students is one of my favorite things to do as a VSU employee. Cory Brown regularly makes an incredible difference for the administration, faculty, staff, and students in our college, but this past week he completely exceeded our expectations while preparing for the J. Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship tour. Cory is focused on excellence and it shows in everything he does. He is a true asset to the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration and I truly enjoy working with him.

Wade Bugby, IT

Mr. Wade went out of his way to make sure that my students and I have access to SPSS. I just want to say thank you for your help!

Samaria Bulemu, LCOBA

It is hard to know where to start in saying thank you to someone who does so much! Samaria Bulemu is instrumental in the college of business and is always helping her fellow administration, faculty, staff, and students, but she deserves an extra shout-out for all she did to prepare for our crazy week with board meetings, tours through the Center for Entrepreneurship, the November open house, and so much more! She makes a tremendous difference in our college!

Ron Butler, Campus Mail

Ron handles every transaction with professionalism and a positive attitude! You can always count on him for those tough shipments!

Douglas Carlson, Archives

As an alum and member of the 1979 NCAA Div II National Champion Baseball team, our team has been gathering information on that '79 team, and one of the most important parts of the proposed webpage for the '79 team has been the Valdosta Daily Times articles from that year. Douglas gathered all of the articles from the microfice, organized them, and made them available to us! He has also begun helping us find some old pictures. He is always incredibly interested and willing to go the extra mile. Thank you.

Nicholaus Clinite, IT

Nick is a great employee here at VSU. He is always willing to help my office when we need technical support and helps to maintain several data tables and software data connections. When reaching out to him with an issue, he is very thorough in researching the problem. We can't thank him enough for the support he provides when we call for help.

Kyle Culpepper, New Media Center

Mr. Culpepper provided excellent assistance and proved a good diplomat for VSU.  We had a complex exhibit to be set up in Odum Library - sent from Poland.  Kyle Culpepper made every effort to assist in the installation, and our Polish visitors commented on his cheerful nature and stalwart help.

Kyle Culpepper, New Media Center

Kyle took time out of his day to come to North Campus, and help the Harley Langdage Jr College of Business set up its greenscreen room hardware and software. He advised us on paint coverage in the room and lighting placement. Without Kyle's expertise and willingness to help, this would have been a trial-and-error process. Kyle walked us through the setup and creation of a 3D print to help us understand how our new 3D printer worked. His willingness to share his knowledge and a sample print helped us meet a deadline for a Board Meeting. Thank you, Kyle!

Mark Errol, Department of Art & Design

I had the opportunity to visit the Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery with my class throughout the semester. Professor Errol has created an environment that is invitational and heuristically engaging. The gallery has become a space that is liminal- a space that invited transformation. I recognize that effort, dedication, passion, and care are needed to create and maintain such a liminal space. Professor Errol crafted a dynamic space that functions as a synergistic cultural resource that builds community, enables reflectivity, and fosters growth. Our last class visit culminated with the senior exhibit. The atmosphere was truly a celebration occasioned not only through the recognition of the exemplary student work but also by the embodiment of the Blazer spirit by Professor Errol's ability to cultivate immersive art experiences in profound and actionable ways. Our visits to the gallery and the experiential impacts will resonate for a lifetime.

Steve Fesler, Plant Operations

I would like to share my appreciation to Steve Fesler for everything he did to assist me with completing projects in the Copeland Museum, Roland FQ Lounge, and the J. Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship. Steve is great to work with and has a great eye for detail.

Barrie Fitzgerald, Institutional Research

I want to acknowledge the extraordinary effort Barrie Fitzgerald put into helping to ensure a senior would graduate this fall when they were struggling with a course that required data analysis proficiency. The student and his parents knew me through the community and reached out when the student had a scheduling conflict with all the tutoring courses offered in their academic department and through Student Affairs. When it became obvious the material the student needed assistance with was a match for Barrie's expertise, I provided his contact information. Barrie willingly gave his time and knowledge to coach the student throughout the semester. The parents and the student have expressed their gratitude to me on several occasions for introducing them to Barrie. But it is Barrie who deserves the acknowledgment for going that extra mile to make sure all our Blazers are successful. In doing so, he built a connection to the community and strengthened a bond with a family that owns a local business. This is a great example of how we can all give a little of our talents to make a long-term impact, not only on retention and progression but on community impact too!

Blake Foster, Plant - Building Maintenance

Blake and his crew have been working on and off at FamilyWorks to paint and touch up the building's interior. The place is looking amazing and we are so appreciative of their hard work, positive attitude, and attentiveness!

Sherri Foster, Building Services

Ms. Sherry works so hard to make sure that Nevins Hall is clean.  She always has a smile on her face.  She is encouraging to both faculty and students.  Thank you, Ms. Sherry, for always being a ray of sunshine in Nevins.

Sherri Foster, Building Services

Sherri is always the sweetest.  She keeps the big bathrooms in Nevins exceptionally clean. She truly cares for the students even though she is not a teacher.  She takes pride in her work which others do not.  She is the best custodian on campus! She always brings a smile to my face.

Sandra Frazier, Plant Operations

Sandra and several faculty and staff member in my building became acutely aware of a student who was crying. Sandra took the student aside and helped console her with kind words. With Sandra's kindness and care the student was truly reassured.

Dr. Robert Gannon, Biology

Today I advised a transfer student from GMC. She is a first-generation student. After being contacted several times to get advised she finally came in. She has been dealing with anxiety due to not feeling prepared as a transfer student. Although, she had doubts about her future she was extremely grateful for being registered for BIOL 1100- Freshman Seminar with Dr. Robert Gannon. The class has reminded her that she is not in a box. She does not have to be a "doctor" as her parents desired. Dr. Gannon's introduction to the different types of biology degrees and his introduction to different career paths liberated her. The course has also enlightened her on the expectations to earn the degree. The student felt extremely empowered because of the depth of information provided to her by Dr. Gannon. Thank you, Dr. Gannon!

Grace Goehring, Advancement Services

Throughout the fall 2022 semester (and particularly in the last month) Grace has truly gone above and beyond the call of duty. Her knowledge of VSU Foundation's guidelines and procedures is unmatched. Without asking, Grace has offered much needed and valued assistance to support our students and faculty. She is a tremendous asset to VSU. Thank you for all the help, Grace!

Jeremy Hankinson, Odum Library

Jeremy Hankinson played a critical role in allowing our Polish visitors to install a complicated exhibit.  It arrived with damaged components and required Hankinson's skills and Sampson-like strength for successful completion.  The Poles told me several times that the installation would not have been possible without Hankinson's hard work. Thank you!

Gabriel Interiano Handal, IT

A big thank you to Gabe for all of the assistance in prepping for the first big tour through the J. Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship on 11/3. His help in getting everything ready was greatly appreciated, and we couldn't have done it without him!

Dana Jack, Odum Library

Ms. Jack was exceptionally helpful in making it possible to install a complex exhibit sent from Poland.  Our Polish visitors commented on her sterling character and very much appreciated her help. Thank you!

Stanley Jones, Registrar

This big thank you goes out to Stanley Jones and the office of the registrar. Thank you for all that you do to assist faculty in promoting student success. Thank you!

Doug Jordan, IT

Doug assisted and advised the Harley Langdale Jr College of Business as they worked on the setup of the J Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship. His help and advice were critical to set up of the equipment in the Center. Thank you, Doug!

Doug Jordan, IT

A big shout-out to Doug Jordan for his support over the last month in setting up the J. Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship. Doug's expertise and guidance were greatly appreciated.

Brenda Kelley, Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice

I was very late getting the materials requested by Dr. Ross. I submitted one item that was not right and had to come back with the correct one. Ms. Kelley was patient, friendly, and supportive. She is an excellent diplomat representing the best traditions of VSU. Thank you, Brenda, for helping me meet a very close deadline.

James Lane, University Advising & Student Transitions

I want to thank James for jumping in to help us moderate at GURC.  We were in need of moderators as we were spread over f2f and online.  James agreed to help with our webinar. The students stated that the session was well-run and easy to navigate. They felt comfortable and supported throughout their presentations.  It is great to have such outstanding community members on this campus who would go above and beyond what needs to be done.  Additionally, James stayed to help clean up and box boards and poster tripods.  It is wonderful to have such a giving individual on our campus.

Dr. James Martinez, Education

I am in my final course for my degree. On October 4th, my oldest daughter attempted suicide. As I rushed to Statesboro to be with her, I knew that I would probably have to take a medical withdrawal from my course. When I contacted Dr. Martinez, he offered his unfailing support. He allowed me to have extensions in assignments if needed. He also forwarded the campus resources for suicide intervention and support. Dr. Martinez continually supported me throughout the rest of the semester. Due to his kindness and support, my daughter is recovering and I will graduate in December. I am so grateful to have had him as a professor. My degree is forthcoming in part to him.

Dr. James Martinez, Education

Dr. Martinez was kind enough to not drop me from EDAT 6001 when my district required a large amount of approval and documentation in order for me to complete the course project. This requirement forced me to be a month behind on each aspect of the assignment. Dr. Martinez allowed me to submit the parts as they were finished with no penalty to my grade due to the requirements of my district. I am in the conversion mechanism program through Columbus State and this course was a requirement to be paid on my Ed.D.

Christian McCabridge, IT

A big thank you to Christain for all of the assistance in prepping for the first big tour through the J. Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship on 11/3. His help in getting everything ready was greatly appreciated, and we couldn't have done it without him!

Dr. David Monetti, Psychological Science

Dr. Monetti knew I was working on developing communications regarding academic integrity. He found a great interactive resource on the topic that he took the time to share with me. He was also willing to discuss where online students he works with struggle in this area and shared his perspective on what information and approach would be helpful. I appreciate his willingness to collaborate and to step beyond his office to help students across the university.

Laura Northup, Political Science

Laura volunteered to help with GURC in November.  She did everything from set-up and break-down to editing to running errands to advertise the event.  Without her work, we would never have been able to be successful in the organization of the conference.  Beyond this, Laura also helped with the organization and running of events throughout the two days.

Daniel Oppel, Creative Services

A big shout-out to Daniel for helping the College of Business to get ready for our fall Business Advisory Board meeting, which encompassed a tour through the J. Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship. Daniel continued to provide support for this effort amongst everything else he was doing for VSU and I really appreciate him and his efforts.

Lori Overlaur, Accounting & Procurement

Lori helped with a situation at GURC that was outside of her reason for being at the conference.  Lori came as a guest to see her daughter's presentation and when a situation came up, she helped resolve it.  Lori was a great help to the conference and an even bigger help to the overall VSU community.  Thank you for caring and being willing to help out.

Kevin Overlaur, IT

Kevin was at GURC to watch his daughter's presentation and when we needed codes and help with equipment, he jumped right in and was able to track down what we needed.  His swift work and quick thinking helped all the 8:00 students present without any real delay.  We couldn't have begun those sessions so well or completed them on time if Kevin hadn't helped.  Without being asked, he worked to solve the problem.  The students and URC were happy he was there.

Lisa Parrish, Student Financial Services

Throughout this semester, Lisa helped me set up a store for the GURC and manage the paperwork.  This was no easy task as she was dealing with a pure humanities person.  Lisa's ability to understand what I was asking, how to explain requirements, and mostly how to navigate the touch.net was amazing.  My constant calls and emails were answered professionally and, more importantly, with kindness and humor. I am pleased to have the chance to work with Lisa and all the people in her area. They have gone way beyond their job requirements and spent a lot of time helping make GURC a success.

Chelsie Powell, Center for eLearning

Ms. Powell was invaluable in assisting me in organizing an online course that I am teaching. She spent several hours assisting me during a busy time for us both. She was very pleasant and willing to assist in any way possible.

Jonathan Schultz, Housing and Residence Life

Officer Schultz ensured the safety of all guests was his main concern. He was extremely helpful and pleasant to work with.  Many of our guests had compliments to say about him.

Emily Seckinger, Athletics

Emily helped me get 5 big boxes of tote bags up to my office which is located on the 3rd floor of my building. I appreciate her willingness to help me even though it was not her department. She really went above her call of duty today.

Jeff Shipley, LCOBA

I want to share a special message of appreciation with Jeff Shipley for his attention to detail, dedication, and the countless hours he spent preparing for our tour in the J. Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship. So many times, the bottom of the iceberg is hidden Jeff does and handles so much to make an event run smoothly. His efforts are worth celebrating and we appreciate all that he does for our administration, faculty, staff, students, and college.

Jeff Shipley, LCOBA

My office computer crashed and the SSD was broken. After my computer had been repaired, I wanted to recover the contents in my previous SSD disk, since it contained important files. Mr. Shipley kindly helped me with this issue. After my computer was successfully repaired, Jeff worked on the Disk recovery issue continuously, provided me with suggestions, and helped me find solutions. I really appreciate the help from Jeff! Thank you very much!

Robin Smith, Dean's Office of Humanities and Social Sciences

Ms. Smith helped with several aspects of our efforts to connect with the University of Gdansk in Poland.  Two visiting professors complimented her diligence and friendly attitude.  I extend their thanks, and my own, for her wonderful attitude.

Ellie Stout, IT

Ms. Stout made IT look fabulous throughout this last term.  She was the best student in a class of 39. Ms. Stout came to class every day, she was an active participant, and was always willing to help her classmates.  If every student was like Ellie Stout, I'd have to pay VSU for the privilege of working here.

Jesse Taylor, Admissions

The COEHS and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators hosted a Future Georgia Educator's day with 225 regional high school students attending a full day of events. Jesse went above and beyond to ensure the VSU admission office was visible, engaging, and involved throughout the day. Jesse was caught caring about VSU and this event, and he is greatly appreciated for it!

Robert Taylor, Library

Rob agreed to create, run, and troubleshoot a webinar for our state-wide conference (GURC).  The work that went into this represented hours for the creation and ran all day on Saturday.  Rob managed a tech room as well as two breakout rooms for student presentations.  The beauty of it was that Rob volunteered and created the event that served students throughout Georgia.  Managing all those students from 9-4 requires skills beyond the ordinary.  Working with anxious students and helping them with tech is no small thing.  Rob has become a valued partner for URC!  Rob's work certainly took a lot of stress off me during GURC.

Gary Thomas, Central Warehouse

Gary has helped us so much over here at the MFT program lately. He helped us move in new furniture and equipment and to remove the old stuff. He is so kind and patient when he comes over. Additionally, he is always wearing a smile. We appreciate him!

Katherine Walden, Communication Sciences and Disorders

Katie spent countless hours over the Fall semester collecting, organizing, and filing dozens of files for our committee to work more efficiently. In addition, Katie also created many missing documents! Thank you for all of your time!

Andrew Wells, IT

Andrew kept me apprised of all ongoing diagnostics, resolved the issues, and restored full functionality of the TEAMS system quickly. His continuous communication was most appreciated.  Thank you, Andrew!

Justin Wiese, Printing Services

A big shout-out to Justin for helping the College of Business to get ready for our fall Business Advisory Board meeting, which encompassed a tour through the J. Donald Lee Center for Entrepreneurship.  I really appreciate all of his help!

Amanda Williams, Campus Mail

She does a great job helping faculty and students. She is a real pleaseure to be around. She is a great asset to VSU!

Dr. Clell Wright, Music

Dr. Wright was central in helping my new colleague and I be able to attend a music convention with students. His passion for teaching, his support of the VSU music students, and how he values his colleagues are exemplary characteristics of what I believe to be part of the definition of collegiality in the Higher education setting. I am truly grateful to Dr. Wright.

Amari Wright, University Advising & Student Transitions

Today I went to the advising center during office hours. I did not have an appointment. My advisor was not offering walk-in hours. However, the student assistant asked the advisor if I could be seen to get advised for Spring 2023 and Summer 2023. When I walked in I felt lost. I wanted a plan to move forward. The student assistant, Amari, listened to me. She was very nice and kind. She was helpful. She also has transfer credits from GMC and could relate to me. Her hospitality set the tone for meeting with my advisor.
