VSU Kicks Off New Academic Year With Annual Convocation Aug. 10

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University’s 2015 Convocation will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, in Whitehead Auditorium.

As the campus community comes together to kick off the 2015-2016 academic year, Dr. Cecil P. Staton, interim president, will discuss “the wonderful assets of VSU, the challenges we face, and our efforts directed at increasing retention, such as student satisfaction.” He will also give an update on the latest marketing and branding efforts.

All faculty and staff are encouraged to attend; alumni and friends of the university are also welcome. 

Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Whitehead Auditorium is located on the first floor of the VSU Fine Arts Building, at the intersection of Brookwood Drive and Oak Street.

Upcoming Events:

• Freshmen will move in between 8 a.m. and noon on Tuesday, Aug. 11, and Wednesday, Aug. 12.

• First Year Convocation for new students will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, in the P.E. Complex.

• Upperclassmen will move in between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14.

• Honors Colloquium for honors students will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, in Powell Hall Auditorium.

• Classes begin Aug. 17.
