Blazers Participate in “Movember” to Raise Awareness for Cancer
Movember t-shirts are available for sale in the VSU Bookstore, with a $1 donation going to the Movember organization for each shirt purchased. |
VALDOSTA - In October the color is pink to bring awareness of breast cancer. In November, men raise money for prostate and testicular cancer research by growing moustaches to promote the global movement known as Movember.
Since its beginning in 2003, Movember has raised over $30 million globally with a significant increase of men's health issues worldwide.
While Movember's more visible mission is to encourage men to grow moustaches for the 30 days of November, females, called "Mo-Sistas", are also encouraged to spread the word and get the men they know to start talking about men's health.
To get involved, men and women can register on www.Movember.com as "Mo-Bros" or "Mo-Sistas". Men begin the month of November clean-shaven, then grow and groom their moustaches and ask friends and family to support their efforts by donating to the education and research of men's health on movember.com.
Individuals or teams can sign up to help raise funds. Some VSU organizations already have teams set up. To join VSU's network, complete the registration, go to your "Mo Space" and click on the Networks link and find Valdosta State Blazer's network.
