VSU Hosts Annual Community 5K Fun Run/Walk
VALDOSTA – On a mission to promote a healthy, fit campus and community, Valdosta State University will host its eighth annual VSU Community Fun Run/Walk at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. Hosted by VSU’s Campus Recreation and Campus Wellness Committee, the event is designed to encourage community building and promote healthy lifestyles.
Race day registration begins at 6 a.m., and course markers will be positioned to provide directions on the day of the race. The race will start in front of the Student Union on Valdosta State University’s main campus and proceed around the perimeter of main campus. The total course length is 5K (3.1 miles).
A first place award will be given out to a men’s and women’s division for the following categories: ages 13-17, ages 18-29, ages 30-50 and age 51 & up. Random prize drawings will be awarded, and there will also be one overall winner for an age 12 & under category.
Registration is $12 for students and $15 for all other participants who sign up by 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23. Same day registration is $20 for everyone. All paid participants will receive a T-shirt. Early registration is requested to get sizing preference.
