Summer Camps 2012
VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University will hold a variety of
camps this summer that will provide students of all ages with the
opportunity to gain new intellectual and physical skills. See the
list below to learn about the academic, athletic and continuing
education camp options available.
Academic Camps
What: STEM Camp
Who: Rising 1st - 6th graders
When: Week of June 4 - 8
Cost: $215 (regular rate), $185 (VSU employee rate), $165 (3 plus
siblings rate)
This will be a week of hands-on science fun and creative problem

What: Computing Adventures @ VSU 2012
Who: Middle school and high school students
When: July 16 - 20 (middle school) and July 23 - 27 (high
school)
Cost: $180 (middle school) and $160 (high school)
This summer's camps will feature robotics and Android apps. Campers
will create their own robots from Lego pieces and sensors and
program them to do innovative and exciting tasks. Campers will also
create Android apps, which they will install and test on actual

What: Forensic Science Camp
Who: Rising high school juniors and seniors
When: July 16 - July 20
Cost: $165
This Forensic Science Camp is a week-long hands-on camp for
students to discover what a real CSI does. During this week,
students will learn how to process a mock crime scene, conduct
laboratory work to solve the crime, visit a real crime lab, and
bring their mock case to trial. Students should have taken at least
two science courses including biology to participate. Lunch and
snacks will be provided, along with a camp t-shirt. There will be a
maximum of 30 spots available. A $20 deposit is required, and
interested students should apply by June 20. For more information,

Athletic Camps
Football
What: 2012 David Dean Youth Camp
Who: Boys and Girls, ages 5-13
When: May 29 - June 1
Cost: $100
Come join the Valdosta State University 2007 National Championship
Football program Youth Football Camp. Boys and girls will have the
chance to learn basic fundamentals of playing the game of football.
The Valdosta State coaching staff will teach all positions.
Pre-registration is encouraged at the Athletic Fieldhouse Monday
through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Each camper will receive a
Valdosta State Football tee-shirt. For more information, visit the

What: All Position Team Camp
Who: 8th - 12th grade students
When: June 10 - June 11
Cost: $175 ($150 per camper if a team brings 10 or more
campers)
This camp will be for every position. Each position will learn the
basic fundamentals along with the basic concepts of the Valdosta
State Spread Offense and the 4-3 Defense, bringing you the same
skills that the VSU football players practice daily. If you bring
your team, they will go through the drill work with their position.
There is a $50 non-refundable deposit required to reserve your
spot. Applications are due by June 1. Pre-registration is

Baseball
What: Five Tool Camp
Who: Students ages 7-12
When: June 4 - 7
Cost: $180, includes lunch and a t-shirt
All-around camp for players of all skill levels. Focus is on the
"five tools" of professional baseball players - throwing, catching,
base-running, hitting for average and hitting for power. Learn
techniques and drills, play games and improve your skills and earn
prizes. Giant water slides will also be part of the camp. For more

What: Baseball School
Who: Students ages 7-9 and 10-12
When: June 11 - 12 (Session 1), June 13 - 14 (Session 2), June 18 -
19 (Session 3), June 20 - 21 (Session 4)
Cost: $40 per session, save $5 when registering for two
sessions
Sessions will be held from 8:30 - 10 a.m. for ages 7-9 and 10:30
a.m. - noon for ages 10-12. There will be advanced hitting
instruction, individual instruction and prescription drills to
address each player's specific swing issues. Features video
analysis with the Rightview software. Each session is limited to 10

Soccer
What: VSU Girls & Boys Soccer Camp 2012
Who: Girls and Boys, ages 4 - 18
When: July 16 - 19 (Session 1), July 23 - 26 (Session 2), July
22-26 (Session 3 Residential), July 22-26 (Session 3 Team)
Cost: $140 (Half Day Session 1 & 2), $280 (Full Day Session 1
& 2), $380 (Session 3 Residential), $330 (Session 3 Team)
The Blazers Soccer Camp is committed to making better players. The
camp is designed to ensure campers will improve both technically
and tactically. The staff is highly qualified (experienced college
coaches) and is committed to challenging your child each day
through a fun and exciting curriculum designed for all skill

Men’s Basketball
What: High School Team Camp
Who: High School Basketball Teams
When: June 8-9
Cost: Option #1: 6 game guarantee: 3 Friday afternoon; 2 Saturday
morning; 1 guaranteed tournament game Saturday evening (could be
more if you win), $395.00 per team; Option #2: 4 game guarantee: 3
Saturday morning; 1 guaranteed tournament game, $285.00 per team;
Spend the night: Your players can stay in one of our dorms.

This camp will teach fundamentals, concepts, rules, and good
sportsmanship. Each camper will be worked with collectively and

Women’s Basketball
What: Instructional Camp 1
Who: Students ages 5 - 13
When: June 11 - 14
Cost: $100 ($25 non-refundable deposit)
For development of the young player, emphasis will be placed on
shooting, passing, ball handling and all fundamental aspects of the
game of basketball. Walk-ups will be accepted so bring a friend for
this fun day camp! Bring your lunch and eat with the Lady Blazers!

What: Post Camp
Who: Girls entering 9th - 12th grade in the fall of 2012
When: June 15 - 16
Cost: $150 (overnight), $125 (commuter)
This camp is for the post player who wants to elevate her game to
the next level. Drill work is specific to the development of both
the offensive and defensive end of post play, including but not
limited to: post moves and countermoves, post positioning, post
passing, body balance, post defense, strength and conditioning and
much more! Must be 5’9” or taller, spots are limited to 30. $25

What: Guard Camp
Who: Girls entering 9th - 12th grade in the fall of 2012
When: June 27 - 28
Cost: $150 (overnight), $125 (commuter)
This camp will utilize Lady Blazer practice drills that stress
advanced ball handling and passing skills, shooting skills,
strength and conditioning, offense, defense and game control for
point guards, shooting guards and off guard/small forwards. Spots

What: Middle School Camp
Who: Girls entering 6th - 8th grade in the fall of 2012
When: May 19
Cost: $25
This camp is a wonderful opportunity for middle school age players
who are either less experienced and are seeking the building blocks
for success or advanced level players who are looking to further
their fundamentals skills and learn what it takes to play at the
next level. Campers will practice and improve their dribbling,
passing, shooting, defense skills and footwork through skills
stations with Valdosta State’s Head Coach Kiley Hill. For more

Volleyball
What: Blazer Volleyball Camp
Who: Students ages 10-18
When: July 8 - 11
Cost: $274 (Overnight), $220 (Commuter)
Campers will have the opportunity to enjoy four days of quality
instruction from the Blazer Volleyball staff, coaches from other
areas and the awesome Blazer Volleyball players. Campers will be
taught the same drills and experience the same system that is
utilized by the Blazer Volleyball Team. The camp is for players of
all skill levels. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to

Continuing Education Camps
What: Camp Discovery 2012
Who: Children ages 5 and older
When: Morning/afternoon May 29 - July 27
Cost: $55+ (Discounts available: $5 per camp early bird discount if
payment is received by May 31; $5 per camp VSU
staff/faculty/student discount (must provide VSU ID). Ask for your
discount(s) when you register.)
Several camps are offered every week, each centered around a theme
that will be fun for participants as well as improving academic,
artistic, and/or physical skills. Camps consist of some
tried-and-true favorites (such as Drama, Art, Dance, Horsemanship,
Lego camps, Math Madness, and Tennis), as well as some exciting new
themes. New camps this year include Outer Space Explorers, Computer
Animation, Shark Week, Printmaking Pros, and Make Your Own Android
App. We also have more offerings available for youth age 12 and up.
