New Advisory Committee Strives to Unite Student Employees

VALDOSTA -- The Student Employment Office and Graduate School announce the creation of the Student Employment Advisory Committee (SEAC), which will serve as a liaison between student employees and administration to ensure a positive student employment experience at Valdosta State University.

The SEAC is to be comprised of student assistants, work-study students and graduate assistants. The board’s primary objective is to improve student employment. Members will welcome ideas from the student population as well as an in-house focus group and present them to the university’s administration.

“By organizing all of us on campus, there will be more communication between departments and increased campus unity,” said Michael Smith, chair of the committee.

Key objectives of the SEAC include facilitating connections between students, student groups and the administration; representing the student employment body and advocating for their concerns; identifying areas of the student employment experience that could be improved and working with the school to implement changes; providing feedback and assistance; encouraging leadership within the student employment body; organizing signature events to enhance student interaction; and serving as a center for innovation and improvement within the VSU community.

For more information or to join the committee, call Michael Smith at (229) 333-7575 or visit
