Free Playoff Tickets for Students Saturday, Nov. 15

VALDOSTA - The Dean of Students Office, Division of Student Affairs, Student Government Association and the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society for First Year Students combined resources to purchase a total of 2,000 general admission tickets for students to attend the NCAA Division II football playoffs at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium in Valdosta.

Students interested in acquiring a free ticket to watch the Blazers take on Carson-Newman College of Jefferson City, Tenn., should stop by the Dean of Students Office, located next to Campus Mail on the first floor of Hopper Hall.

Students must present a valid VSU student identification card when they come to pick up their ticket at the Dean of Students Office, which will continue to distribute the tickets until Friday at 3 p.m. when the office closes for the weekend.

About 1,500 tickets remain, so come and get your free football playoff ticket today. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday thought Thursday. For questions about the free tickets, call the Dean of Students Office at (229) 333-5941.

The winner of the VSU-C-N game will face second-seeded North Alabama in Braly Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 22. The remaining Super Region Two bracket includes No. 4 Tusculum playing No. 5 Albany State on Saturday, Nov. 15, with the winner of that game facing No. 1 Delta State on Saturday, Nov. 22.

The 2008 playoffs mark the 10th season, and the eighth out of the last nine years, that Valdosta State has advanced to the NCAA Division II Playoffs. The Blazers have gone 14-7 in their nine previous playoff appearances, including national championship victories in 2004 and 2007. Saturday's game marks the fifth time that VSU has faced Carson-Newman in the playoffs, with each team having won two of the previous four contests.
