Unwind at Campus Health and Wellness Fair

Enjoy a free massage, learn yoga and get your cholesterol checked at the Second Annual Spring Health and Wellness Fair from 8-11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 20, in the atrium of the Hugh C. Bailey Science Building and along the pedestrian walkway.

The VSU Campus Wellness Program invites faculty, staff and students to participate in the free health screenings and education offered at this event. From 8-9 a.m., medical professionals will administer free glucose screening tests, which evaluate how an individual’s body processes sugar. The test is used primarily to detect diabetes, a metabolism disorder that results in inappropriately high levels of sugar in the blood. People interested in participating in the free screening should not eat or drink anything after midnight before the test.

The fair kicks into full swing at 9 a.m. with 24 vendors providing an array of free screenings, educational materials and prizes. Fair goers are encouraged to enjoy free Tai Chi and yoga instruction, learn about Weight Watchers, and explore ways to reduce stress. Free cholesterol and blood pressure readings as well as Body Mass Index (BMI) tests will be available. Health and wellness practitioners will be on hand to answer questions and pass out general nutrition and fitness information.
