Legend has it that if the world-famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, sees his shadow on February 2 of each year, six more weeks of winter weather will be guaranteed. If Punxsutawney Phil does not see his shadow, however, an early spring will arrive bringing sunshine and warmth to the land. Regardless of the outcome, it is always wise to prepare for whatever situation arises.

In honor of Ground Hog Day, we hope to prepare our students for successful career exploration through a lesson in shadowing local professionals.  Shadowing experience is important for students, especially those in the freshman community. Our Groundhog Day event will serve to open the window of opportunity for all freshmen and those students in specialized fields of interest. In collaboration with local employers and the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, Valdosta State University students will be provided an opportunity to shadow a professional in their field of interest.

Student Registration  Travel to and from the work site is the responsiblity of the student. If the student doesn't have transportation, they can particpate in Employer Roundtables at the University Center.
