WT arrived at VSU in the summer of 2012.  Previously, he had taught outdoor recreation leadership classes, lead trips, and managed ropes courses.  He received his PH. D in Leisure Management at Ole Miss and Master of Arts in Physical Education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX specializing in outdoor education.  WT has lead outdoor trips canoeing the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (MN), Rio Grande (TX), & Everglades (FL).  His land adventures include the Grand Canyon (AZ), Smoky Mountains (NC), and 14ers (CO) plus bicycling in England, France, and Canada. He has also planned and managed challenge courses (TN & MS) and recently obtained his Wilderness First Responder Certification (SOLO @ NCO) and ACCT Challenge Course Practitioner Level 1 Certification.  At the recent AORE Conference in Utah, he was honored to receive the Jim Rennie Leadership Award and was on the editorial committee to publish the Proceedings. He is excited about helping to take CORE Outdoors to the next level for the students, faculty/staff, and community.

Leadership Challenge Course and Climbing Wall

Sean arrived at VSU in the summer of 2012 and is in his 2nd year as the CORE Outdoors Graduate Assistant.  Previously, he had worked as a rafting guide (CO & TN) and an Everglades kayaking guide (FL).  He received his BS from Florida Gulf Coast University, Ft. Myers, FL.  Last year, he lead 15 CORE Outdoors trips to TN, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, & Texas and presented at the national NIRSA conference in Las Vegas.  In his second year, he will manage the Leadership Challenge Course and Climbing Wall at VSU. He is also certified to teach first aid and received the ACCT Challenge Course Practitioner Level 1 Certification in June.  He will receive his masters degree in Student Affairs Leadership in May, 2014. Sean is excited to grow the quality and quantity of the Leadership Challenge Course and increase the participation at the Climbing Wall.

Amber arrived at VSU in May, 2013 just in time to take the 50 hour training to obtain her ACCT Challenge Course Practitioner Level 1 Certification. This summer, she has lead trips to Florida and worked in outdoor equipment rental.  Previously, she had worked with Old Dominion University's Outdoor Program (VA) in trips, team building, and rentals where she received her BS in 2013.  She has also lead trips to Europe, the Islands of the Caribbean, and South America. This fall she will lead day and weekend trips in the South with 1 unique addition - multi-outdoor adventure in Costa Rica.  Amber will begin her masters program in August in Sociology.  Amber is excited to explore the southeast with VSU's students and take them to places the program has never been.
