PERSONAL ADVICE TO FRESHMAN: Get involved with student organizations. You don't want to take on too much your first year, but too much time on your hands can also be a bad thing. Being involved helps with every aspect of college life. It keeps you grounded and helps you stay focused on what you need to accomplish. Learn how to balance your social life with your academics.

FAVORITE CLASS: Organismal Biology. Even though I am not that interested in biology, the instructor makes it interesting and engaging for all students.
BEST ADVICE YOUR PARENTS GAVE YOU: Don't try to do too many things at once. If you do, you will become overwhelmed and won't be able to excel in everything.
BIGGEST SURPRISE ABOUT COLLEGE LIFE: Through out High School, teachers made college out to be the hardest thing ever. Since I started college, I've found it to be easier than I expected. You just have to put forth the effort to do well
PERSONAL ADVICE FOR FRESHMAN: Have fun, but remember you are in college to learn and get a degree.

FAVORITE CLASS: Marching Band. I get class credit for doing something that I love, and it's given me the opportunity to meet people that I probably would not have met if it weren't for this class.

BIGGEST SURPRISE ABOUT COLLEGE LIFE: How much the instructors seem to care about their students. Professors might seem intimidating, but in reality, they want to help their students more than they want to hurt them.
PERSONAL ADVICE FOR FRESHMAN: Try your best in school and have fun. But not too much fun, we still want to get an education.

BEST ADVICE YOUR PARENTS GAVE YOU: My mother has always told me to stay in school and finish no matter what.
BIGGEST SURPRISE ABOUT COLLEGE LIFE: I have maintained friendships with all of the people I first met when I came to VSU.
PERSONAL ADVICE FOR FRESHMAN: Make sure you keep a high GPA. It counts for a lot of things on campus.

FAVORITE CLASS: Cognitive Psychology. We learn about what areas of the brain coordinate with certain functions and various disorders that are due to brain damage.
BEST ADVICE YOUR PARENTS GAVE YOU: Learn how to manage your time--especially your spare time.
BIGGEST SURPRISE ABOUT COLLEGE LIFE: Because your classes are spread out over the day and the week, you have a lot of free time.
PERSONAL ADVICE FOR FRESHMAN: Get to know your professors from the get go. If you are confused about something, make sure you ask your professor for help.

: World Religion. This class was extremely dynamic and it challenged me in ways I never expected. It allowed me to erase stereotypes and have an open- mind to learn and respect a variety of cultures, ideas, and religions.

: When I was a little girl, my dad told me to be sure to get an education and fill my head with as much knowledge as possible because that is something that no one can take away from me.

: How much I've grown and the confidence I've gained throughout different areas of my life.
PERSONAL ADVICE FOR FRESHMAN
: Imagine life like a fork. You will start on one long path; however, there comes a point where you must make choices and decide which direction you want to go or which path you want to travel. Whether it has to do with your major, job, hobby, or relationship, I recommend that you aim to make the best decision for you. Also remember, things don't always go as planned. Expect the unexpected!
