Resident Assistant Application Process

2018-2019 Application Process (Tentative openings)

APPLICATION OPENS SEPTEMBER 24TH AND CLOSES DECEMBER 10TH

  • To apply: upload resume and apply to the “Mid-Year Resident Assistant” posting on Blazer Briefcase. Priority Applications must be submitted prior to Monday, November 12, 2018, at 5 pm.
    • All Resident Assistants must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.65 and at least enrolled in full-time status during semester or application.
    • Resident Assistants must be in good judicial standing with University and Housing Department. If you are unsure of your judicial standing please refer to the Student Conduct Office to inquire.
    • All Applicants must submit two (2) letters of recommendation in order for their application to be complete. One (1) letter must be from a Valdosta State University Employee
  • Interviews: Phone Interviews will begin the week of November 20th. More information to follow upon the completion of your application.
  • Final Decisions: Final Decisions will be made after December 7th.
    • Candidates who accept the position must be able to attend Winter training starting on January 6th.
    • All mid-year hires must also be in attendance at all staff selection dates and activities in the spring to have candidacy considered for the following Academic year.

2019-2020 Application Process

APPLICATIONS CLOSE JANUARY 25TH AT 11:59 PM

  • To apply: upload resume and apply to the “_____ Hall Resident Assistant” or “_______ Special Academic Resident Community Assistant” posting on Blazer Briefcase. You may apply to more than one (1) hall or community.
    • All Resident Assistants must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.65 and at least enrolled in full time status during semester or application.
    • Resident Assistants must be in good judicial standing with University and Housing Department. If you are unsure of your judicial standing please refer to the Student Conduct Office to inquire.
    • All Applicants must submit two (2) letters of recommendation in order for their application to be complete. One (1) letter must be from a Valdosta State University Employee
  • Informational Sessions: Candidates must attend at least one information session.

  • Interviews: All candidates must successfully complete the full interview process (Social, Group interview day, and Individual interviews) once invited. More information to follow upon the completion of your application.
  • Final Decisions: Final Decisions will be made on March 13, 2018
    • Candidates who accept the position must be able to attend Fall Hire Day on April 19th.
    • Upon Acceptance of the position and successful completion of a Background check, all employees must complete hiring paperwork prior to the end of the spring semester.
    • All RA staff must be in attendance of Fall training beginning on July 22nd and continuing through the first day of classes
