Paying for Housing
In order to receive a priority number and a place on campus, a $150 refundable security deposit and a $100 non-refundable application fee needs to be paid via credit card (MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card) online after the application. Otherwise, cash, check, or money order can be given directly to the Office of Housing and Residence Life. Checks and money orders must be payable to Valdosta State University and cannot be a starter check.
To pay the actual cost of living on campus, residents must pay through the Bursary Office. Two separate payments are needed from residents in nine month contracts at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. For residents in Centennial (12 month contracts) two separate payments will be made, with half the cost of summer being added to fall billing, and the other half being added to spring billing.
Holds and Fees Holds may be placed on resident's accounts for various reasons such as failure to pay housing costs, room damage fee, community damage fee, lost or stolen key fee, etc. For lost or stolen keys, residents can only pay at the Bursary Office. For damages, cash, check, or money orders are accepted by the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
