Blazin' Brigade Band
Welcome to the Valdosta State University Blazin’ Brigade Marching Band! Since 1983, Blazin’ Brigade has provided entertaining shows for students, fans, and alumni of our university athletic programs.
We are proud to uphold the traditions and values of Valdosta State University while embracing musicianship, showmanship, and creativity. There is a place for everyone! Membership is open to all students regardless of major; our members represent over 30 majors on campus.
Blazin’ Brigade performs for every home football game and at select away football games each season. We perform a minimum of three shows a season and promise to strive for excellence in everything we do.
The Basketball Pep-Band is an extension of the Blazin’ Brigade and performs for all men’s and women’s home basketball games.

Winds: No audition is required for woodwind and brass players with high school experience. VSU will provide mellophones, marching baritones, sousaphones, percussion instruments, and some piccolos. Flute players are encouraged to play piccolo. All other students must provide their own instrument.
Percussion: The VSU drumline consists of snares, tenors, basses, cymbals, and mallet/pit percussion. Drumline members audition for instrument assignment during a weekend camp / audition during the late Spring or early Summer. Percussionists will receive a packet of warm-ups and audition material for this camp.
Auxiliaries: The color guard, Danceline, and feature twirlers perform as an integral part of the marching band. These units are a major contributor to the visual success of the Blazin' Brigade. Membership into these groups is by audition only. Color guard and danceline auditions will be held during a weekend camp / audition in the late Spring or early Summer. Anyone interested in being a feature twirler must submit a videotaped pre-audition; finalists will be invited to an on-campus audition (if necessary).
*The Blazette Danceline performs in an American College/University Jazz Dance style.
