Fall and Spring Semesters

The Wind Ensemble is VSU's premiere concert band. It meets both Fall and Spring semesters and is open to all students as determined by competitive auditions each semester. The Wind Ensemble stresses a "one player per part" concept, performing literature of the highest level, including both new contemporary works for the wind ensemble as well as the standards of the wind band repertory.

Auditions are held several days before classes begin each semester. Audition materials include major scales, sight-reading, and 2 prepared selections of the players choice: one technical etude/excerpt and one lyrical selection.
