Mr. Eric Bradshaw joined the Valdosta State University faculty in the Fall of 2002. He currently serves as the Director of Athletic Bands and Assistant Professor of Music. Along with his teaching responsibilities and directing the Blazin’ Brigade Marching Band, Mr. Bradshaw
directs the basketball pep band and concert band. He also actively performs as the principal tubist with the Albany Symphony Orchestra and Savannah Philharmonic. Mr. Bradshaw received his Bachelor of Science in music education and Master of Music in tuba performance from the University of Alabama.
Under Mr. Bradshaw’s direction, the VSU Blazin’ Brigade Marching Band can be seen and heard at all VSU home football games and performs as an exhibition group for high school marching festivals throughout Georgia. With approximately 160 members, the Blazin’ Brigade is one of the largest and most visible student organizations on the Valdosta State University campus.
Eric’s professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, Georgia Music Educators Association, College Band Directors National Association, College Music Society, and International Tuba Euphonium Association. Eric is also a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, and an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Tau Beta Sigma.
Prior to moving to Valdosta, Mr. Bradshaw spent 1997 - 2001 teaching in the public school system in Carroll County, Georgia. During these years, he also served as an adjunct professor at the University of West Georgia.
Eric has twin sons, Andrew and Ryan.
