The College of Arts & Sciences currently has two very active centers focused on supporting students and faculty with guidance, technical assistance, and academic support. The Center for Applied Research, and Center for Applied Social Sciences are open on scheduled hours or by appointment.
Center for Applied Research (CAR)
The Center for Applied Research strives to promote the development of applied research beneficial to governmental, private and non-profit institutions of the South Georgia region through:
Encouraging faculty to engage in research for and with local governments, schools, non-profit organizations and businesses
Promoting collaboration among faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences
Promoting student participation in research and the presentation of projects at regional conferences.
Center for Applied Social Sciences
The Center promotes and provides collaborative interdisciplinary innovation, research, and technical assistance consulting services which address social and public policy issues facing a global society.
The overarching purpose of the Center is to expand human knowledge through innovation, research, and creative activities through the varied expertise of the faculty by promoting entrepreneurial enterprises, fostering collaborations with governmental agencies, private entities, and educational institutions.
