Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
Welcome from the Department Head
Dear Prospective Students,
Welcome to the Valdosta State University Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders!

If you're considering a career as a speech-language pathologist, our CSD program is here to help you achieve your goal. We offer both a bachelor’s and master’s program, providing comprehensive academic and clinical training to set you up for success in this growing field.
Speech-language pathologists are in high demand, with rapid growth projected by the United States Bureau of Labor and Statistics (2023). Our graduates are highly sought after and often secure jobs quickly, thanks to their strong preparation and excellent Praxis II exam results.
At VSU, we offer a transformative educational experience that blends learning, research, clinical practice, and community service. Our graduate program accepts students in spring, summer, and fall and offers two pathways for completing the M.Ed. degree. Whether through our traditional 5-semester plan or a more flexible 6-semester option, students gain hands-on, interdisciplinary learning that connects classroom knowledge with clinical experiences.
Our small class sizes (around 25 students) ensure personalized instruction, while the VSU Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic offers real-world clinical experience with state-of-the-art equipment, all free of charge.
Feel free to contact me or our faculty if you have questions or want more information. We look forward to welcoming you to Blazer Nation!
