Dean's Message

Dear VSU Parents and Family Members:

The University wants to keep you in touch with what’s going on campus. Please use this page to keep updated on campus events and issues. Our Parent Resource Center is designed to help family members easily connect with various parts of the University that are of interest to them. We will update this page regularly, and urge you to visit it often!

The Division of Student Affairs will add information periodically to the “Helpful Hints for Parents & Family” section, as well as keep you informed with details related to student life, registration, campus calendar, student services and many other timely items.

Please use this site to learn about the many valuable services that VSU has to assist students in being successful. I am a parent of a college student too, and I know how much families want to be a part of their students’ college experience. Sometimes as involved parents we simply want to jump in and fix things, when an issue or concern arises. The “PRC” should help you identify resources that will aid you in advising your student on what path to take when they reach a difficult decision or must make a critical choice!

I also want to encourage you to join the VSU Parents and Families Association and attend our fall Parent’s Weekend.

Finally, please feel free to utilize the “Contact VSU” or “Speak to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students” links on this page if you have specific questions or concerns that require more information. College is a wonderful challenge and opportunity. Hopefully the Parent Resource Center will help you share in this journey as well!

Sincerely,
Russell F. Mast
Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students
