VSU has installed four Recycling Center sites near dormitory residences.  Their locations are:

  1. On the corner of Powell Hall, Bio Chem Building and Pedestrian Mall.
  2. Just west of Converse Hall, facing Hopper Hall.
  3. On the grass, just south of Brown Hall, facing Lowndes Hall. (this will service the Patterson residents, also)
  4. In the interior quad area of Centennial Hall(s); east and west.

*More recycling sites will be added on campus in the future.

At these locations, VSU asks that the following materials be deposited for inclusion in an integrated Recycling Program.  In coordination with the “Single Stream” recycling program operated by the City of Valdosta, these deposit sites receive clean plastic bottles, glass, aluminum and metal containers.  They need NOT be separated, as the ultimate receiver of these recyclables takes co-mingled shipments and sorts it at their processing site.

Specific plastics desired are numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7.  Note that number 6 is NOT recycled.

It is requested that all containers be rinsed clean.  This makes for a more attractive site and pleasant experience for those student assistants who service these sites.

These sites are NOT for paper or cardboard products.  Paper is collected in the dorm lobbies and academic buildings in appropriately marked containers.  Cardboard is to be broken down by the receiver organization and stacked.  A phone call to Physical Plant Work Control (333-7854 or 249-4860) will enable a pick-up to be scheduled.

THESE SITES ARE NOT FOR TRASH!  NO FOOD, BATTERIES, BLANKETS, LAPTOPS, BOXES, Etc.
