Tobacco-Free Task Force

The Tobacco-Free Task Force initiative aims to ensure that the Valdosta State University community is provided with safe and clean air that is free from secondhand smoke by building a tobacco-free campus. The American College Health Association (ACHA) has adopted a "NO TOBACCO USE" policy due to the recognized toxic air contamination that secondhand smoke produces. Over 20 colleges and universities in Georgia have implemented a 100% Tobacco-Free Policy. Efforts in supporting tobacco-free environments have led to substantial reductions in:

  • Secondhand smoke
  • Tobacco consumption
  • Tobacco-related morbidity and mortality

Achieving a tobacco-free environment requires strong leadership and support from all members of the VSU community. The tobacco-free task force is seeking assistance from students and faculty who want to make a difference and gain tools to create change and positively impact the health of the VSU community.
