Faculty, Staff, Students, Retirees Invited to Benefits and Wellness Fair Nov. 1

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University will present the 2017 Benefits and Wellness Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 1, on the third floor of the Student Union. Faculty, staff, students, and retirees are encouraged to attend.

The Benefits and Wellness Fair will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with free flu vaccinations for faculty, staff, and retirees with a valid photo identification card. This special flu vaccine clinic is presented in partnership with University System of Georgia Well-Being, a system-wide well-being initiative. Faculty, staff, and retirees should bring their insurance card.

In partnership with the Student Health Center, students will be able to receive a flu vaccination for $10, payable by flex, cash, check, debit, or credit. The link to pay with a credit card or debit card is https://secure.touchnet.com/C20243_ustores/web/store_main.jsp?STOREID=36&SINGLESTORE=true.

Free blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, body mass index, and hearing screenings will also be offered beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The Benefits and Wellness Fair will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with more than 65 exhibitors offering everything from free mini manicures and massages to free samples and information. Several exhibitors will offer opportunities to win gift cards, gift baskets, as well as health and beauty services.

Wild Adventures will offer discounted annual passes, with the option to pay for those through payroll deduction, and VSU’s Center for Exercise Medicine and Rehabilitation will offer discounted memberships.

Community and campus-based health, wellness, and financial representatives will be available to discuss resources available and share information on health and wellness products and services. This includes Espyr, an employee assistance program that offers assessment, counseling, and referral services for VSU faculty and staff experiencing a wide range of issues.

There will be exercise demonstrations, an opportunity to learn about the benefits and uses of essential oils and chiropractic care, and much more.

Employee benefits providers will be on hand to answer any questions faculty, staff, and retirees may have about the 2018 health, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefit plans. Open enrollment began Monday, Oct. 30, and will continue through Friday, Nov. 10.
