UGA Small Business Development Center at VSU Offers Course in QuickBooks

VALDOSTA — The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center at Valdosta State University will present QuickBooks Pro for Desktop Basics from 9 a.m. to noon every Wednesday May 10 through June 7. Registration is $199 per person and includes all course materials.

Sponsored by Guardian Bank, QuickBooks Pro for Desktop Basics is designed to provide business owners and operators, and even aspiring entrepreneurs, with a practical understanding of all the functional areas of the accounting software. The course will also provide a basic overview of accounting principles, concepts, and methods.

Throughout the five-week course, Quickbooks Pro for Desktop Basics attendees will use case studies to develop the practical, hands-on computer experience necessary to establish, organize, and manage an efficient accounting system. They will learn how to use the customer center to manage cash receipts and accounts receivable and the vendor center to manage cash payments and accounts payable; how to enter and maintain inventory; how to use the bank reconciliation, pay sales tax, time tracking, and job costing features; how to set up a new company; and how to run financial statements and other month-end reports used to manage day-to-day business operations.

QuickBooks Pro for Desktop Basics attendees will have the opportunity to meet privately with a Small Business Development Center consultant to discuss any specific business issues or challenges they may be facing.

Headquartered in Athens, the Small Business Development Center is a partnership between the University of Georgia, Valdosta State University, the University of West Georgia, Georgia State University, Georgia Southern University, Clayton State University, and Kennesaw State University.
