VSU’s NSLS Presents Live Broadcast Event with Curt Menefee Feb. 21

Curt Menefee

VALDOSTA — The Valdosta State University chapter of Sigma Alpha Pi: The National Society of Leadership and Success will present a live speaker broadcast featuring Curt Menefee at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Hugh C. Bailey Science Center Auditorium 1011. Admission is free of charge and open to all students, faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, and friends of the university.

Curt Menefee is the host of “FOX NFL Sunday.” His book “Losing Isn’t Everything” has been described as “a refreshing and thought-provoking look at athletes whose legacies have been reduced to one defining moment of defeat — those on the flip side of an epic triumph — and what their experiences can teach us about competition, life, and the human spirit,” according to Sigma Alpha Pi: The National Society of Leadership and Success.

During his presentation, which will be live streamed from the New York Institute of Technology in New York, N.Y., Menefee will share the hidden lessons behind the toughest losses in sports history, his observations on turning failure into success, and the importance of being resilient in the face of adversity. He will also discuss his three-step plan for career success — work hard, be passionate, and enjoy life.

Attendees may submit relevant questions to Menefee throughout the event via Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #theNSLS. He will respond to selected questions at the end of his presentation.

With 545 chapters and 715,549 members, Sigma Alpha Pi: The National Society of Leadership and Success is the nation's largest leadership honor society, one committed to building leaders who make a better world. Students are selected for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction.

The National Society of Leadership and Success is devoted to helping members discover and achieve their goals. It does this by offering life-changing lectures from the nation's leading presenters, as well as a community where students help one another succeed.

The National Society of Leadership and Success provides a step-by-step program for members to build their leadership skills. Upon completion of the program, members receive their leadership certificate and take their place among the top student leaders at their campus and across the country.

The National Society of Leadership and Success kicked off its 2016-2017 multi-speaker live broadcast series in October with Dolvett Quince, celebrity trainer on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.” Before the end of the Fall 2016 semester, these VSU student leaders were also able to hear from Leigh Anne Tuohy, the real-life inspiration for the popular movie “The Blind Side,” and Andy Cohen, Emmy and Peabody Award-winning host of Bravo’s “Watch What Happens, Live!” Two weeks ago, they had an opportunity to learn from Barbara Corcoran, real estate entrepreneur and star of ABC’s “Shank Tank.”

Upcoming speaker broadcasts include Anderson Cooper, acclaimed author, award-winning journalist, and current anchor of CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360°”; Hoda Kotb, reporter, activist, author, and Emmy Award-winning co-host of NBC’s “Today”; and Trevor Noah, host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.”
