VSU Art Guild Offers Outdoor Watercolor Experience April 30

VALDOSTA — The Art Guild at Valdosta State University will host another Art in the Outdoors from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 30. Admission is free of charge and open to all ages.

The Art Guild is a student organization comprised primarily of art majors and art minors at VSU. These students will spend the morning teaching watercolor techniques and sharing their love of art with residents from the campus and surrounding community.

Water, paintbrushes, paper, and a limited number of watercolor paint sets will be provided. However, to ensure everyone has the opportunity to fully enjoy this experience, attendees are asked to bring their own watercolor paint set, which can be purchased for a nominal fee at local discount or craft stores.

A few tables and chairs will be available for those who do not want or are unable to sit on the ground. All others are encouraged to bring an old blanket and come ready to learn and laugh as they relax in the fresh air and create their very own work of art.

Art in the Outdoors will be held on the lawn of the Honors House, which is located at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Oak Street. Parking will be available in any of the gravel or dirt lots along Georgia Avenue. In case of rain, the event will be moved inside the house.

Contact Lamar C. Benefield, Art Guild president, at lcbenefield@valdosta.edu for more information.
