Registration for the run/walk begins at 7 a.m. and costs $25 for participants ages 18 and older and $20 for all other participants. Following a group stretch and warmup at 7:45 a.m., the race will begin at 8 a.m.

Team registration is available, and ghost runner donations are welcome. All participants will receive a Dri-FIT T-shirt if registered by April 23. Visit http://www.vacdst.org to register for the event online.

A first place award will be given to the overall top male and female participants in the ages 7-17 and 18-plus categories. Finisher medals will be given to all other participants.

The asthma awareness health expo will begin at 8:30 a.m. and is free of charge and open to both race participants and the general public. Local health care and fitness professionals will be available to offer asthma and allergy literature, free health care screenings, and free samples, as well as give demonstrations and showcase their services.

Sponsorship opportunities for the event are available. Sponsors who donate between $100 and $500 will have their name and company logo featured on the Breathe Easy 5K Run/Walk T-shirt, mile marker signage, all social media pages promoting the event, and the event website.

In recognition of May being National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month, a portion of the proceeds from the event will support asthma education efforts and the Georgia Department of Public Health South Health District Children’s Medical Services.

Remaining proceeds will benefit the Valdosta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.’s book scholarship program for area high school seniors.
