VSU Presents Graduate Research, Scholarship Symposium April 17

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University will present its seventh annual Graduate Student Research and Scholarship Symposium from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 17, in the University Center Magnolia Room.

An elite group of 37 graduate students will present posters showcasing the first-class research and scholarship being conducted at VSU. These students were nominated by faculty in their various disciplines and represent the Departments of Biology; English; History; Communication Sciences and Disorders; Curriculum, Leadership, and Technology; Early Childhood and Special Education; Kinesiology and Physical Education; Library and Information Studies; Middle Grades, Secondary, Reading, and Deaf Education; Political Science; and Social Work.

Teresa C. Williams, associate to the dean of VSU’s Graduate School, said that it is “quite an honor to be recognized for innovative research at the graduate level.”

“I am amazed at the caliber of research conducted by our graduate students,” she continued. “The students are incredibly busy with classes, jobs, families, life issues, and yet they carve out time to propose a project, research, and then finalize their findings in poster format for our event — and our incredible faculty encourage this research, which may lead to publication or further research. For many of our students, this experience is a springboard toward a terminal degree or a job promotion. The Graduate School is proud to promote and celebrate research and scholarship at VSU.”

Admission to the Graduate Student Research and Scholarship Symposium is free of charge and open to all faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends of the university.

Refreshments will be served.
