VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University alumni and friends are invited to attend the third annual Atlanta Alumni Dinner on Friday, April 3, at the Westside location of 5 Seasons Brewing Company, 1000 Marietta St. NW, Atlanta. Proceeds benefit student scholarships.

Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Dr. William J. McKinney, the university’s ninth president, will deliver the keynote address.

Tickets are $65 and may be reserved by visiting http://www.valdostastate.org or by calling VSU’s Office of Alumni Relations at (229) 333-5797. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, from a low of $150 to a high of $1,000 or more.

A silent auction will be conducted throughout the evening.

Presented by the VSU Alumni Association and hosted by the Alumni Chapter of Atlanta, the Atlanta Alumni Dinner is an annual fundraiser that provides financial support to Metro Atlanta students attending Valdosta State. Each year, the chapter’s goal is to award an undergraduate student and a graduate student, regardless of major, a one-time scholarship.

The Alumni Chapter of Atlanta raised more than $5,200 during the 2014 dinner. Those funds allowed the chapter to financially assist Maegan Abkemeier in her quest to earn a bachelor’s degree in international business and gain an appreciation of cultural differences and how they could potentially impact both business and society and Rochelle Elliott in her pursuit of a Master of Library and Information Science degree and desire to serve the less fortunate.
