VSU will Host Open House Saturday, Jan. 31

VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University will hold an Open House Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 in the PE Complex located at 401 Baytree Road.

Prospective students, parents, teachers, and counselors are invited to attend. The day’s activities begin with welcoming speeches from university administrators and members of the Student Government Association. Afterward, students will have the opportunity to talk one-on-one with representatives from academic departments and learn more about the value of a degree from Valdosta State.

With 20 sororities and fraternities and more than 200 clubs and student organizations at Valdosta State, students have the opportunity to participate in the full college experience. Representatives from various student organizations will be available to answer questions during Open House.

In addition, representatives from VSU’s Financial Aid, Student Success Center, Centralized Advising, and other student support offices will walk students and parents through the college admission process.

“We are expecting students from all over the country to attend this Open House and learn about the benefits a degree from Valdosta State has to offer,” said Ryan Hogan, associate director of admissions. “We want to make sure that members of our local community know that they are invited to come see what a complete university experience offers.”

Hogan emphasizes that the Open House event is not just for high school students, but also includes college students transferring from other institutions and those individuals who are looking to return to college and complete their degree.

“We wants students who have been away from high school for some time, and especially military members and their dependents to know they are invited to the Open House,” said Hogan.

As part of the day’s activities, visitors will be guests of Valdosta State for lunch in Palms Dining Hall. All activities will conclude at approximately 4 p.m.

Reservations are not required. Visitors need to arrive at the PE Complex no later than 10 a.m. For more information, visit the university’s website at www.valdosta.edu or call 229-333-5791.

The next scheduled Open House is Saturday, April 11, 2015.
