Breast Cancer Benefit to be Held for Dorothy Nickell June 14

VALDOSTA – A breast cancer benefit will be held for Dorothy Nickell, administrative assistant of Valdosta State University’s Women’s and Gender Studies program, at Hildegard’s Saturday, June 14 from 7 to 10 p.m.

The event will include music from The Backstreet Blazers and food from Covington’s as well as a variety of items from vendors such as Steele Magnolia’s, Bleu Café and Bleu Pub, Serenity Massage, Southerland Yoga, and Zant’s Flower Shop for a silent auction.

Funds raised during the event will help offset the medical costs for Nickell, who was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in April and will have to go through a series of chemotherapy treatments.

Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased in advance at the Women’s and Gender Studies office, located at Carswell Hall on Oak Street, or at the door on the night of the event. For more information, call (229) 249-4842.
