Organizations of Excellence Honored

VALDOSTA – Black Student League was named Valdosta State University’s Student Organization of the Year during the university’s Organizations of Excellence ceremony Tuesday, April 15.

The organization was recognized for excelling in the areas of organizational effectiveness, ethical leadership, diversity, creativity, teamwork and service.

The excellence program is an initiative of Valdosta State’s Office of Student Life and is organized by the Organizational Development department. The program cultivates and supports student development and organizational excellence through training, policy enforcement, advocacy and serving as a resource to the university’s 200 plus registered student organizations.

VSU recognized the following organizations as Organizations of Excellence: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; Deep Release Poetry Society; Media Arts Geniuses; Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, Inc.; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity; Black Student League; Delta Chi; Student Veterans of America; Collegiate Women of VSU; Gay Straight Alliance; and XChange Ministries.

The university also recognized the following organizations as Organizations of Merit for commitment to growth and development: American Sign Language Club; Heart to Heart Association; Phi Beta Lambda​; Distinguished Women of Excellence; Mass Choir at VSU; Philosophy and Religious Studies Club; Four Directions; NAACP; and Students of American Red Cross.
