Severe Weather Awareness Week: Tornado Drill Feb. 7

VALDOSTA –On Friday, Feb. 7, many state and local agencies will participate in a statewide tornado drill. The drill is scheduled at approximately 9 a.m. by the National Weather Service. A special test message will be issued on NOAA weather radio and various city, county and state agencies.

The drill is part of Severe Weather Awareness Week activities scheduled Feb. 3-7. State officials are encouraging families to develop emergency plans and purchase a NOAA weather radio to receive official alerts.

Valdosta State University encourages all faculty, staff and students to be prepared for unexpected events, become familiar with emergency response procedures for all types of weather conditions, and learn about the different levels of weather threats.
