VSU Welcomes Tesla Quartet to Whitehead Stage Oct. 19

VALDOSTA — Featuring Megan Mason on viola, Kimberly Patterson on cello, and Ross Snyder and Michelle Lie on violin, the Tesla Quartet will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, in Valdosta State University’s Whitehead Auditorium.

The Tesla Quartet was formed in 2008 at The Juilliard School and wasted no time establishing itself as one of the most promising young ensembles in New York City, winning second prize at the J.C. Arriaga Chamber Music Competition a few months later. Since then, the dynamic foursome has earned top honors at several events, including the 2012 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the 2012 London International String Quartet Competition, and the 2013 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition, and enjoyed a busy performing schedule, both in the United States and abroad.

The concert is open to the public and presented free of charge by VSU’s Department of Music. It will be held in Whitehead Auditorium, located on the first floor of VSU’s Fine Arts Building, at the intersection of Brookwood Drive and Oak Street.

The Tesla Quartet will perform music by Joseph Haydn, Caroline Shaw, Leos Janacek, and Felix Mendelssohn.
