Heather H. Proctor Named Director of Alumni Relations

VALDOSTA – Heather Hall Proctor has been selected as Valdosta State University’s director of Alumni Relations. She will begin her duties July 17, 2013. 

"I am very pleased that Heather is joining VSU as director of Alumni Relations,” said John Crawford, vice president for University Advancement. “Increasing alumni engagement has never been more important for Valdosta State and Heather's knowledge and experience made her the ideal selection."

This position has responsibility for providing leadership and direction for alumni programs and initiatives, as well as strengthening relationships and goodwill among VSU’s more than 45,000 alumni worldwide.

"It is a tremendous honor to return to Valdosta State University, and I am looking forward to strengthening existing programs, while developing new initiatives that will further connect the university and the alumni community," said Proctor, who graduated from VSU with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in speech communication. "As a graduate, I am committed to the core values and mission of VSU and excited to meet alumni across Georgia and throughout the country." 

Proctor comes to VSU from Emory University, where she serves as assistant director of Parent Philanthropy and Engagement. In this role, she coordinates fundraising, donor relations and parent relations.

From 2001 to 2012, she conducted fundraising and special event planning for the American Heart Association. Proctor’s primary function involved fundraising activities within Georgia, Alabama and Texas. Working with school-age children, Proctor succeeded her fundraising goals by 12 to 15 percent nine out of 10 years.

Before working with the American Heart Association, she was vice president of tourism at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce, special projects coordinator for the City of Moultrie, and member services director for the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce.
