VSU Vocalists, Instrumentalists Present Showcase April 24

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University vocalists and string, woodwind, and brass instrumentalists will join forces for an end-of-the-season Student Chamber Music Showcase at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, in Whitehead Auditorium. The concert is free of charge and open to the public.

“Some of our very best students are performing on this concert, and there will be a ton of variety,” said Dr. Elizabeth A. Goode, professor of flute, music director for the VSU Flute Choir and Flute Quartet, and principal flutist with the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and Albany Symphony Orchestra.

The program features everything from a trombone ensemble to a string quartet to a soprano duo to a single tenor with guitar accompaniment. The students will perform music by Benjamin Britten, Lori Laitman, Libby Larsen, Phil Castillo, Ludwig van Beethoven, Antonin Dvorak, Dmitri Shostakovich, Hector Berlioz, Giochino Rossini, W. A. Mozart, and Dominick Argento.

Whitehead Auditorium is located on the first floor of the VSU Fine Arts Building, at the intersection of Oak Street and Brookwood Drive.
