VSU and Gwinnett Technical College Sign Pathway Program Agreements

VSU President William J. McKinney and Gwinnett Technical College President Sharon Bartels sign Pathway Program agreements on April 14, at GTC campus.

VALDOSTA-- Valdosta State University (VSU) and Gwinnett Technical College (GTC) signed Pathway Program agreements on Monday, April 14. Through the agreements, GTC students who successfully earn an Associate in Applied Science degree are eligible to work on a Bachelor of Applied Science in human capital performance or Bachelor of Science in organizational leadership at VSU.

In addition, GTC students graduating with an Associate of Science in biology from GTC can begin working on a Bachelor of Science in biology at VSU, once it has received approval from appropriate state governing boards and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

“Many of our current students at Valdosta State are from the Gwinnett County area and we look forward to expanding the opportunities for more students to complete their college degree through this partnership with Gwinnett Technical College,” said VSU President William J. McKinney. “This partnership represents an important piece of Valdosta State’s commitment to Governor Nathan Deal’s Complete College Georgia initiative. It is these types of collaborative relationships that will assist more students in earning the credentials they desire, and helping to create a more highly educated and prepared workforce throughout Georgia.”

The Pathways Program centers on the priorities of Complete College Georgia (CCG), an initiative developed to increase the number of Georgians earning a college degree. In 2012, institutions in both the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and the University System of Georgia (USG) submitted plans to achieve the ambitious goal of adding more than 250,000 postsecondary graduates to Georgia’s workforce by 2020.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Valdosta State through the Pathways Program to give our graduates the opportunity to seamlessly continue their education at Valdosta State in these areas,” said Gwinnett Tech President Sharon Bartels. “The Pathways Program collaborations support so many critical goals for our state, including improved college completion, workforce development and life-long learning.”

Gwinnett Tech offers more than 50 degree, diploma and certificate options that can be completed in two years or less. For more information, visit www.GwinnettTech.edu or call 770-962-7580.
