University Attorney Appointed to State Board

VALDOSTA -- University Attorney Laverne Lewis Gaskins was recently appointed to serve on the Georgia Code Revision Commission.

The major duties of the 15-member commission includes preparing and conducting revisions, codifications or recodifications of Georgia laws as necessary following legislative action by the General Assembly, and arrange for the publication of new code volumes.

Under Georgia law, the Code Revision Commission includes the Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives and four other House members, the Lieutenant Governor and four members of the Senate, and five members appointed to one-year terms by the State Bar president.

Attorney Gaskins, an Associate Editor of the National Bar Association Magazine, serves on the Florida State University’s College of Law Alumni Board of Directors , is active member of the National Association of University and College Attorneys , the Georgia Bar, the Valdosta Bar Association and the Valdosta Rotary.
