Community Celebration April 30

VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University will host a “Community Celebration” from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, April 30, at the Rea and Lillian Steele North Campus.

“This event is to thank all the people and individuals who helped VSU secure the $32 million for the Health Sciences and Business Administration building,” said Interim President Louis H. Levy. “We want to thank Gov. Nathan Deal and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and our local legislative delegation. Strong leadership also contributed to this project’s success. Representatives from South Georgia Medical Center, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Valdosta, and Lowndes County, as well as local business leaders made trips to Atlanta to promote the importance of the Health Sciences and Business Administration building to our legislators.”

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle is scheduled to be the guest speaker during the brief ceremony that will begin at 4 p.m. The community is invited to attend and enjoy a hamburger cookout and entertainment.

Parking is available at Billy Grant Field and the Softball Complex. VSU faculty, staff and students are encouraged to take the university’s “Red Line” shuttle bus, which picks up every 10-15 minutes on Oak Street (behind Palms Dining Center) and the entrance in front of Nevins Hall.
