Peach State Summer Theatre Announces Another Exciting Season for2012

VALDOSTA-- More than 60 actor-singers, dancers, technicians, managers and creators will make Valdosta their home for a nine-week season of Peach State Summer Theatre. Peach State Summer Theatre is the Official Musical Theatre of the state of the Georgia, and this summer’s three rotating musicals running June 2 through July 15 will include 'Legally Blonde,' 'Go, Dog. Go!' and 'The Light in the Piazza.'

“Artistic Director, Jacque Wheeler and I worked hard in selecting our upcoming season based in an effort to match the excellent response to our 2011 Season,” said H. Duke Guthrie, Associate Professor and Managing Director of Peach State Summer Theatre. “Early bird season membership sales and comments from the community indicate that many people are excited about 'Legally Blonde,' 'Go, Dog. Go!' and 'The Light in the Piazza.'"

The Shows

'Legally Blonde' opens June 2 and chronicles a sorority girl’s journey through Harvard Law School. Adapted from the hit movie of the same name, “Legally Blonde” opened on Broadway in 2007 and received seven Tony Awards.

'Go, Dog. Go!' is based on P.D. Eastman’s classic children’s book that explores movement, color and space. Opening June 15, this musical will be great for young audiences. It is sponsored in part by Wild Adventures.

'The Light in the Piazza' will debut on June 22 and is based on the novella of the same name by Elizabeth Spencer. The musical follows young Clara’s time in Italy filled with romance, family turmoil and revealed secrets. The musical received 11 2005 Tony Award nominations and won six.

The June 10 Matinee, June 23 Matinee and June 29 Evening Performances
will be interpreted in American Sign Language for the Deaf.

Tickets

Early bird season memberships are now available until Feb. 15 and standard season memberships until June 2. For individual shows, tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for students/seniors and $18 for groups 10+. The PSST! Box Office, located on the first floor of the VSU Fine Arts Building, is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
